Eva Mendes is Taking Care of Daughter Esmeralda Without Nannies or Nurses

Eva Mendes rocks bangs in a feature for Violet Grey‘s latest issue!

Here’s what the 40-year-old actress had to share:

On caring for her new baby Esmeralda: “I’m doing it without a nanny for now but I’m open to the idea of having a nanny in the future. Esmeralda has two amazing grandmothers and incredible aunties who come over and really help me. But as far as a nanny or a night nurse, for me that part of being a mother at this early stage is the struggle of not being able to sleep and not knowing what I’m doing and really going through it with her and battling out those nights.”

On her pregnancy: “I was just taking the time to relax and enjoy my pregnancy. I was constantly with family. I have eight nieces and nephews so my brothers and sisters know a thing or two about what to expect when you’re expecting. I have a very tight-knit family and the pregnancy brought us even closer together.”

On appreciating her mother: “Definitely. I cannot believe that by the time my mother was 24 she had three kids under the age of four. She was in Cuba and totally alone. So when it’s the wee hours of the night and I’m feeling a bit insane, I think about her and realize that I have no right to complain about anything.”

while i love reading into the lives of celebs, i just wish she had kept this private. She was being held up as a model of actors who are able to maintain their privacy admist any hoopla. Now, it just seems like she was looking for the riht opportunity to talk about it all.

I used to like Eva’s body, but hated her face.. it’s one of the most masculine amongst the women in Hollywood. I really hope Eva’s daughter doesn’t have her mother’s facial features.

  • lucy

Sounds as if Ryan is not there at night to help, must be just co-parenting.

  • Mocs1

Oh golly, how does she do it? To think that my great-grandmother had 10 children in the turn of the centry Ireland w/out indoor plumbing, gas or electric. I just don’t know how these women handle 1 child!

  • Mocs1

    Help doing what?

  • Rev George E Gunzhart

All of you people just are never happy, the truth is that Ive known evita all her life as well as her whole family,Her Dad, Mom,and her other two sisters and brother and brother inlaw I know all of them, she is a very kind person as well as beautiful young women as well as the rest of the women in the family so who are you to be a judge here who do you think you are to call some one not beautiful, just look in the mirrow and judge your self o.k.

  • Susan Marchi

Big deal…..the mass majority of women take care of their children without nannies or nurses.

  • lynn

This is just beyond stupid. She’s been a mother how many months? Why do people write this bullshit? Her and Ryan are assholes. Do remember when Ryan got all douche with a guy on red carpet. He claims the guy was hitting on her. And it turned out to be bullshit

  • Chuck

Is there not a husband or whatever in the picture?

  • Chuck

Just think how much easier it would be with a HUSBAND!

  • Joyce

Your great-grandma probably had tons of extended relatives helping her (and probably her older children as well), which was pretty much the norm back then.

  • Joyce

Are you kidding? Strong features are incredibly sexy!!!!

  • Joyce

There are tons of husbands who don’t help their wives with child care, and it’s an alarming high number! The girl’s father (actor Ryan Gosling) is rather involved, but he’s not married to Eva. The article does mention that the girl’s two grandmas (meaning Eva’s mom and Ryan’s mom) help Eva a lot.

  • Joyce

She has Ryan Gosling, but they aren’t married. They probably co-parent, but the article also mentioned that her kid has two grandmas, probably referring to Ryan’s mom.

  • Heather

There’s always HATERS! Everyone is beautiful in there own way. I don’t see how its anyone’s business what they do in there lives.

  • vegetarianj

The only reply I have is “Well said”.

  • vegetarianj

I’m sure she’s a really nice person but after working with children from every walk of life, maybe she should be a married mom. Society seems to think it’s ok but when a mom and dad are not married, it makes most kids feel incomplete from the hood to Beverly Hills.
Big deal…these famous people think they are so much more superior then the rest of society. Try raising 3 little kids after your husband dropped dead on the job and you only have his social security to live on. Then let’s see an article on that mom.

  • Rev George E Gunzhart

Hy lynn you have a big dirty mouth you should try and wash every now and then , the way you write on this page, boy you should not even be allowed to be on ?

  • Rev George E Gunzhart

Heather you are 100% right on all these people that speak evil of everyone just dont cut it do you know why the reason is that they are not happy with their own life so they have to talk bad about others to get it off their chest get it.

  • alasia min

here’s the thing, no one forces you to have more children then you can handle. I don’t applaud people who have a lot of children because that’s what they chose. Unless you were forcefully impregnated multiple times, taking responsibility for your actions is not something that deserves special praise.
