They’re really pushing that campaign. Can’t really blame them. They put a lot of money building her up but she kinda fizzled out in the last couple of years. They gave her an awesomely plum scene in Birdman, but frankly speaking better actresses would have done way better. I don’t think she can shed a tear on cue. And when Keaton was doing a scene with her in the bkgd, she just sat there so stiffly putting her out of the scene’s context. She lacks the natural instincts for her chosen craft.

This could be their last chance to relaunch her.

  • FerCat

That is the perception, but behind it all they’ve got it right. Just look at her movie line up and you can tell what they really think.

  • Melanie Merle

Say what you like she is a very gifted actress; especially comedy.

  • FerCat

It is a perception rather than a reality. She’s very cute and makes funny faces. Her best spots are often scripted, nothing off the cuff. She often gets a pass because she is very cute. For a comedic actress, she’s done very little actual comedy for a while.

  • Patrick Downing

No. It is your perception that she is not a gifted actress. It is your opinion and not a fact.

  • FerCat

Well, she’s not an awful actress. I give you that. But gifted is really pushing it. She pretty much killed The Help’s chances at winning the Oscars.

If only you can get past all that surgically enhanced prettiness. :)

Early on, I did think she was gifted. Her body of work changed my opinion.

My sincere congratulations to Emma Stone, that has carried out an oustanding performance in Birdman. She was also considered for a nomination at the Academy Awards.
