Producer Scott Rudin Apologizes After Leaked Emails Reveal Racially Charged Remarks About President Obama

Producer Scott Rudin has issued an apology after his leaked Sony emails reveal some very upsetting quotes about President Obama and his presumed favorite movies, which are racially charged.

The emails between Sony Pictures chair Amy Pascal and producer Scott Rudin refer to a meeting Amy was about to have with the President.

“Would he like to finance some movies.” Amy said, “I doubt it. Should I ask him if he liked DJANGO?” To which Scott replied, “12 YEARS.” Amy responded with, “Or the butler. Or think like a man? [sic],” which Scott replied “Ride-along. I bet he likes Kevin Hart.”

Scott‘s statement in response to the leak reads, “Private emails between friends and colleagues written in haste and without much thought or sensitivity, even when the content of them is meant to be in jest, can result in offense where none was intended. I made a series of remarks that were meant only to be funny, but in the cold light of day, they are in fact thoughtless and insensitive — and not funny at all. To anybody I’ve offended, I’m profoundly and deeply sorry, and I regret and apologize for any injury they might have caused.” (via Deadline)

This puppet master needs his walking papers….I don’t care how many award winning movies he has produced, one thing to have a bigger ego then the actors another to be a biget

Fun stuff. First Apple, now Sony. Tsk, tsk – good Hollywood leftists mocking a good leftist president? What is this world coming to? I love when the masks come off and these hypocrites reveal who they really are behind closed doors and keyboards.

Just in case you were off planet when the Edward Snowden NSA Scandal came to light, there is really no such thing as 100% secure file storage if its connected to the internet. Especially if you use any third party storage… I store EVERYTHING on a portable hard drive… and dis-connect it when I am not using it.. You can get a terabyte portable hard drive for around $150.00, I never have to worry about losing anything or anyone stealing my files…and I don’t pay a monthly fee..

Hell, I don’t even really use my “smart phone”. My old dumb-one is good enough for me and its cheaper. It’s a waste of money just like so many other things in America like student loans (get a cheap education!), expensive car insurance (my $25/month policy from Insurance Panda is good enough for me), and fast food (who wants to pay $10 for a Chipotle burrito?!?).

Also – One way to completely ensure there are no bad photos of yourself that could wind up in an embarrassing situations is to NOT take them. Seems pretty logical to me… And if you don’t want your racist emails coming to light, don’t write them!

    he ain’t sorry one bit

The damage is done. And why would anybody with any clout or fame opt to work with him again and think they could trust him behind their back. Being 2 faced in Hollywood is typical but still imagine if in your work place these condescending remarks were made and all could see. How would any of you feel..like you could trust this person in business?

Shove it up your ass Scott! You got caught and exposed, and now you’re biting your words by releasing an insignificant apology, that is probably as ingenious as your character. People kill me when they say there aren’t racist but then when situations like this happen, it completely contradicts their words. That why I always say, ‘when someone says they’re not racist,’ take it with a grain of salt, because the probability of them being racists is likely to be true. I’m sure, Obama could care less about his apology; he’s received tons and tons of hate mail and speech, and racists derogatory bigotry than Martin Luther King Jr. He’s probably used to it by now, and honestly, it’s to be expected.

After all the nasty comments not only about our President but Angelina Jolie, Megan Ellison.. this guy should be fired & learn some humility. I hope Sony does the right thing & Amy Pascal is just as disgusting!

These people are parasites in the world, & it’s saddening that their pockets are thicker than most.. they get paid to be these leeches in the world who all the do is pick on people’s flaws & are just downright unethical.

  • Lupe

As if we needed anymore proof that hollywood is run by a bunch of pathetic, racist, assholes.

  • tasha

See he is only apologizing for making a comment about Obama. Not Jolie . I am sure Scott has told Jolie off many times to her face. But you can’t talk like that to a President or world leader. No way. I still like his honesty about spoiled celebs though.

i don’t get it why did he have to apologize for what he said in a private email. This is BS

  • Pretty Little Mars

EVIDENCE to people who say things like “why don’t black people go star in make their own movies??” because unfortunately people like this hold the power in Hollywood, therefore “black” films do not get funded. Also…. the leak for the marketing strategy for Grown Ups 2 is so laughable and proves that Grown Ups was made by a bunch of babies http://hellotailor.tumblr.com/post/104913597825/donrickles-the-sony-leak-has-been-my-favorite

what a dummy…the things he said weren’t even insulting. but he just looks like a moron

-Besides Politics, SHOW BUSINESS is also one of the dirtiest. What was exposed on those Amy Pascal-S. Rudin emails I think is actually & similarly happening anywhere around Hollywood. It just so happened that Sony’s server was hacked. Now suddenly all the people in Hollywood are talking about this openly, not just in whispers. I am sure, the celebrities, producers, managers, agents, publicists etc. are now extra CAUTIOUS with their dealings. They never know if something will come out about them as well. In reality, BACKBITING happens everywhere, in any setting or scenario. People talk behind someone else’s back, be it in email, private messages or just even during casual talk between or among friends. This Sony fiasco involved powerful & very famous people, that’s why it’s BIG NEWS. I know, with the things are going, there are more REVELATIONS to come….. and APOLOGIES or DAMAGE CONTROL to follow.
Now, the question is, who among the people involved will rise above this? who will be the loser? Whose career gets affected? Who gets more humiliated? Who will lose credibility more? Who will the public TRUST more? Who will gain the RESPECT of the people more? And lastly, who will get a bad KARMA in the end and who will be blessed more.
