'Exodus' Dethrones 'Mockingjay' to Win Weekend Box Office

Exodus: Gods and Kings topped this weekend’s box office with a $24.5 million debut!

According to THR, the Biblical epic, starring Christian Bale, also opened in several international areas to earn $43.3 million around the globe.

Coming in at No. 2 was The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1, starring Jennifer Lawrence, Liam Hemsworth, and Josh Hutcherson, falling 40 percent to $13.2 million, bringing its domestic total $277.4 million.

Taking the third spot was Penguins of Madagascar, starring the voices of John Malkovich and Benedict Cumberbatch, which brought in $7.3 million in its third week.

Rounding out the top five were Chris Rock‘s Top Five and the animated flick Big Hero 6, earning $7.2 million and $6.5 million, respectively.
