Sony Is Considering Pulling 'The Interview' from Theaters

Following the hackers’ threat of attacking movie theaters showing The Interview, Sony is reportedly considering pulling the film from theaters altogether.

The movie, starring Seth Rogen and James Franco, is currently set to be released on Christmas Day and now the studio is talking with movie theater owners about whether to pull it, according to Variety.

Some theater owners plan on showing the film though.

“It’s unfortunate,” said Tom Stephenson, CEO of Look Cinemas. “If they play it, we’ll show it. Sony has a right to make the movie, we have a right to play it and censorship in general is a bad thing.”

UPDATE: Carmike Cinemas has announced it will not be showing The Interview in any of its theaters.

Homeland Security has already stated that there is no credible information regarding the threat. If Sony pulls the movie it won’t be due to a threat on movie goers but the threat of more damaging info being released.

Pull it and the hackers win. And if North Korea is really behind it, bull, don’t pull it to appease that loser.

I agree. Besides, the movie doesn’t look remotely funny. I have no idea how Seth Rogen and James Franco made it this far in their careers with such minimal talent. They’re so awkwardly awful.

I love Seth Rogen so I really wanted to see this. It’s just ridiculous…. its a movie and people need to get over it. It’s funny how it in 2014 this world is 1000x more sensitive than it was ever was.

If this movie is pulled from movie theater, then the other for Sony is VOD. Video on Demand.
