White House Says Sony Hack Is a 'Serious National Security Matter'

The White House is commenting on the massive Sony hack that has been going on for weeks, calling it a “serious national security matter.”

“[This is] consistent with how will we protect against, monitor and respond to cyber-incidents. This is something that is being treated as a serious national security matter,” White House press secretary Josh Earnest said on Thursday (December 18), via Variety.

“We’re calling on Congress to act on cyber security. This is not the sort of topic that should allow us to be divided on party lines,” he added. He also commented on what the White House will do about the situation regarding North Korea: “There are a range of options under consideration right now I’m not going to speculate on which options might work best.”

As a result of the massive Sony hack and a terrorist threat that came through, The Interview was pulled from theaters.
