'The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies' Dominates Pre-Holiday Box Office

The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies opened to a whopping $90.6 million five-day debut, easily winning the weekend box office!

According to THR, the flick, starring Martin Freeman, Orlando Bloom, Evangeline Lilly, and more, had a weekend total of $56.2 million.

Coming in at No. 2 was Ben Stiller‘s Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb sequel, which opened to a rather low $17.3 million.

Taking the third spot was the Annie remake, starring Quvenzhane Wallis, Jamie Foxx, and Cameron Diaz, which earned a respectable $16.3 million.

Rounding out the top five were Christian Bale‘s Exodus: Gods and Kings and The Hunger Games: Mockingjay — Part 1, starring Jennifer Lawrence, Liam Hemsworth, and Josh Hutcherson, bringing in $8.1 million and $7.8 million, respectively.

Meanwhile, Reese Witherspoon‘s Wild expanded nationwide and earned an additional $4.2 million for an early domestic total of $7.2 million.
