Jennifer Hudson to Debut on Broadway in 'Color Purple' Revival!
Jennifer Hudson is reportedly set to make her Broadway debut in a revival of the musical The Color Purple.
The production will be a stripped down one that originated at London’s Menier Chocolate Factory, according to Page Six.
Jennifer got her start on American Idol in the season won by Fantasia Barrino, who starred in the musical in its previous run on Broadway and received rave reviews for her work.
While she has starred in the movie version of Dreamgirls and also performed at the Tony Awards, Jennifer has yet to star in a Broadway musical!

UPDATE: While it was originally believed Jennifer would play the lead role of Celie, she will actually play the supporting role Shug Avery.
