Women have been saying “Jesus Christ!” when they first see Rodrigo, for years! I think this is great casting, but why even bother to remake a classic.

Again another remake. Can we leave a good movie alone. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VfbQuU7vI4Y

Why can’t anyone ever hire a Jew for this role?? It’s such an obvious choice, but no one ever does it. Go to Israel, find a male Sephardic Jew aged 30 who’s roughly 6 feet tall, and there you go. MOVIE.

  • Dee

Why Sephardi Jew again? Sephardi Jews have no more Jewish ancestry than Ashkenazi Jews.

I don’t think Jesus was an Ashkenazi Jew. You know, when you read things you have to use context. Comments don’t usually appear out of a vacuum. [EDIT: Let me clarify. I don't think Jesus LOOKED like an Ashkenazi Jew. He likely looked more Sephardic, so that's why I suggested a Sephardi Jew should play him. Basically, I was driving more at the notion of a JEW playing him than say, some South American or European who happens to be dark-toned. If they're just going for a certain LOOK, then why not an actual Jew. That's what I was trying to say. Like that Israeli who was in The Mummy. He's too old now, but someone LIKE him. He had the perfect look when he was 30.]

  • Dee

If he “looked” Sephardi (who don’t look that different from Ashkenazis), then you should be pleased with a non-Jewish actor who looks Sephardi, like Rodrigo Santoro. If all that matters is his physical appearance, then his ancestry should not.

PS, you’re not by any chance one of those people who believes pale skin and blue eyes originated from Ireland and/or Sweden? Both features originally came from people in the Levant area/around the Black Sea.

  • Dee

And the Israeli from The Mummy is Ashkenazi, not Sephardi, btw.
