At last a great thing sensible that you writes about on Jennifer, they are great talent!

  • mandyz

She looks nothing like Mestre though, the only similarity is that they’re both attractive. They should hire a long haired brunette with a longer nose for the role to be honest.

Does it matter? It’s not a documentary. And I highly doubt every knows about this free diving couple. The main question for me is how interesting of a subject matter will this be to warrant a film.

  • mandyz

They can actually hire an unknown talented girl that looks like Mestre, not difficult. I like Jen and she’s talented but I can’t see her as Mestre, sorry. And you don’t need to attack my opinion, everybody has the right to express different opinions.

Let’s be realistic. A producer and studios (the ones who funds money for a film) sometimes want back their investment. So an unknown won’t get a movie greenlighted as quickly as say casting a big name A-List star. BTW…no one was attacking your opinion. Just because someone has an opposite opinion does not mean they are attacking you. This is basic discussion on a topic. If you are a little kid, I get that having an opposite opinion from yours sounds like an attack. So for this I understand don’t take offense kid.

Will she have French accent? Just wondering. And this is the second film James Cameron produce about diver, the first one was Sanctum. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EsXvtopRQJ0

Only 24 and jennifer is already being pigeonholed into the same role of being a wife or a mother.

  • suomi

Myself as to please this news. I believe that Jennifer may well succeed in this.

Jennifer very talented and the accent will be able to to learn if one wants to. Absolutely I go see this when it is sometimes done.

  • mandyz

First, I’m not a kid lol, second, I was assuming you’re a Jlaw worshiper and I’ve seen commentors with the slightest opposing opinions get attacked on these threads if they go against the fans opinions so I do have the right to point that out. If you’re not a devoted fan, I’m sorry for assuming you were. My oldest brother knew Francisco and Audrey when she was still alive back when they lived in Miami so I want to see this portrayal done properly and realistically. If Jen can pull off a French accent, she may do a decent job but it won’t be easy. In addition to that, I know how Hollywood works, I know they want a big name to garner an audience but I’m more captivated by new talents instead of the same actors be given every role even when the role wasn’t right for them and they weren’t given a proper audition just because “they’re already A-list so they don’t need to audition”. That’s unfair to actors that have worked their butts off and are struggling to get their big break, especially when there’s lots of undiscovered great talents out there. Eddie Redmayne built his way up from model to fairly unknown actor and look at him now, he’s about to get his first Oscar so yes, a truly talented unknown actress can get major critical acclaim at film festivals and be green lighted to have the movie distributed and gain an audience. Isn’t that how Jennifer Lawrence started getting recognized by the Academy? Yep, that’s exactly how it started for her, I rest my case. :)

Huh?…Mestre was 28 when she passed away (Lawrence is 24)…a competitive diver and French. Exactly how is that pigeonholed.

  • tia maria

If you actually read my comment,I said the roles she is only ever doing is the role of either someone’s wife or mother. And mestre(RIP) was married thus she is once again playing the role of a wife.

  • Melanie Merle

True mandy but the movie would never get the publicity (i.e. money) with an unknown actress unfortunately.

  • Mary Devlin Millar

My point is is that Jennifer Lawrence only played a wife and mother in one film…American Hustle, and that’s it. Hardly pigeonholed.

  • tia maria

she plays a wife/mother in american hustle, plays a wife in serena and will be playing a mother in joy. Jennifer is a good actress(even though i neither like nor dislike her) but she needs more variety in her roles.
