Julianne Moore Apologizes for Snubbing Marion Cotillard in Critics' Choice Acceptance Speech

Julianne Moore has taken to her Twitter account to apologize to Marion Cotillard for forgetting to mention her name during her 2015 Critics’ Choice Movie Awards acceptance speech.

The 54-year-old actress won the award for Best Actress and took the time to say kind words about all the other nominees, but forgot to mention Marion‘s name.

“One of things about being an actress, the hardest part is that you never get to act with other women – or very rarely anyway. But that doesn’t meant that I’m not watching and constantly inspired by everything they do. Inspired by Reese [Witherspoon] and her walk through grief; and Jennifer [Aniston] and that extraordinary pain; and Rosamund [Pike] and her rage; and Felicity [Jones] and her endurance,” she said in the speech. “I’m so inspired by you all and honored to be in your company.”

This is what Julianne wrote on Twitter after the awards show:

I figured it was just a mistake. I thought she gave such a lovely speech.

Aww…awkward but I’m sure it was an honest mistake. Julianne has mentioned how much she admired Marion before and she’s always so supportive of other women

  • norah mackenzie

it was not a mistake – she did it deliberately imo. what sort of person forgets abt a fellow nominee esp one who was sitting in the same place. she had no business snubbing her and made it look bad – its like what kate winslet did when she won for the reader – she read out all the names of her fellow nominees and forgot to mention angelina jolie same thing – how do you forget someone when their names are called

  • norah mackenzie

she is a huvane client dont forget – she knows that marion c is her main rival for the oscar

  • max573

Either she did it on purpose, or she gave less importance to Marion. I don’t understand how people can get really carried away by ‘the trending things’, and forget that there are also things which may not be exposed in open, but are really great, or even greater than the ‘trends’.
I personally like Julianne Moore a lot, she’s a great actress. So many great performances in the past.
But aside this whole issue, from Still Alice and Two Days, One Night – Marion was better than Julianne, I feel. It’s not much of a difficult decision.
I hope Marion gets the Oscar at least. (Which Julianne would possibly win, because ‘trend’ has that, she’s been winning all the recent awards.)

It was obviously deliberate. I hope someone can upset her. Her ego is getting bigger.
