    What, another rom-com? Fail.

  • James D.

Whoever edited this trailer should be fired.

  • Marcia

    Aniston is a butterface.

  • Shenanigans

    i didnt laugh a single time…#fail

  • Jana500

Didn’t they make this 3 or 4 years ago? It’s just now getting to theaters? That should tell you all you need to know.

  • kellyf

Looks ok but it won’t make money. It’s not a lot of people’s brand of comedy, Owen doesn’t have the pull he used to and Jennifer’s role is more supporting than I think the trailer lets on. Probably interesting work from the actors but no box office draw.

  • kellyf

She can ONLY do dramas after Cake now? This is far from a We’re the Millers/Horrible Bosses type of comedy, I think it’s an interesting comedy choice, much like Life of Crime. I like seeing her do this brand of comedy, I think she’s better in them. I know you obviously do not.

  • Claire

Jen is a cool puncher !
    I like it .

  • Joy B Angie

    Owen’s nose looks like a pines – it’s funny.

  • Goose

God she’s hideous. She looks like Dustin Hoffman when he played a woman.

  • Cheyenne

She is trying to be taken seriously as an actress and yet she reverts to type. She should hold off the rom-coms until she has a few successful dramas under her belt. Cake may not be one of them, if early box office returns are any indication.

  • Joy B Angie

Well I guess ”Cake” is reporting to be a flop for my Jen. All the pity party world tour didnt help her at all. And this next movie looks like a flop to.Way to go Jen.

  • kellyf

I see your point but to be fair, I think this filmed before Cake and has taken a long time to be released. I also don’t think box office is the only mark of success. Getting a fair amount of acclaim and a handful of award moms makes Cake a successful role for her in a lot of respects. Nor does she seem terribly motivated by box office success. Life of crime, cake, and this film are never destined for a big box office weekend, so it seems like she’s just interested in stepping away from her typical types of comedy/rom com roles and doing more interesting work (we’re the millers had huge success at the BO but wasn’t exactly a cinematic gem) than past roles. But again, I know this doesn’t sway your dislike for her at all. Just my take.

  • Claire

She has $ 150 Millions thanks to her “flops”.

  • 55vineyard

I like rom coms, OK? My other choice would be a nice drama.

  • Cheyenne

All movie stars are motivated by box office success. They can tolerate a few bombs as long as they have enough hits to balance them. Three bombs in a row is not a good sign. Studios don’t want to sign actors who can’t put butts in seats. I wonder how many more movies Johnny Depp will be in after his latest flopped this weekend.

  • Cheyenne

No, she has $150 million thanks to Aveeno, Smartwater and “Friends” residuals.

  • Cheyenne

3 or 4 years ago? Why didn’t they release it back then when Owen had still had some pull at the box office? Why drop this bomb now right after Cake? Really bad marketing.

  • Joy B Angie

    Haters love to say
    nobody wants Aveeno and SmartWater.

  • kellyf

Angelina has had her share of box office flops and successes too, and that’s the same with Jennifer and nearly every other actor and actress. I’m at the agree to disagree point with this conversation, because no matter what success she’s had, you’re going to try and put a spin on it like she’s a failure, which very few would objectively agree with.

  • Cheyenne

As you said, every major star has their flops, some of them major disasters, but you have to look at overall trends. When is the last time Aniston had a hit? Horrible Bosses 1 and 2 did so- so. We’re The Millers did well. But Life of Crime, Cake and Wanderlust are all certifiable bombs. She needs a major box office hit soon or she will be back to TV. And Johnny Depp’s career may have just crashed and burned behind Mortdecai.

  • Gala

    i can ‘t wait to see …

  • Gala

    and ??’

  • kellyf

Like I said, I don’t think weree going to agree on this, nor do we have to, but those 3 were small films that I don’t think were ever expected to be huge BO successes. When there’s big box office pressure, like with HB1 and WTM, she’s killed it lately. Like you said, HB2 was ok but it wasn’t a total failure. Some movies just aren’t destined for box office greatness but I think she’s doing interesting work in smaller films and it’s nice to see an actor stretch themselves. I like what she’s doing career wise. Not everyone has to like her but I iust think it’s silly to try and discount any success she’s had. She’d probably find it silly if she weren’t so busy getting ready to attend her 3rd awards show to celebrate her 3rd nomination of the season.

  • Cheyenne

I wouldn’t say she killed it, although both films did turn a respectable profit for their studios. But she’s never had a blockbuster film in the neighborhood of $400 million, whereas both Brad and Angie have had several of those. You also need to take into consideration that Aniston was not the lead in HB1. She can’t open a movie and make it a success. But people piled into “Maleficent” on Angie’s name alone, and I would bet that at least half the people who went to see “Unbroken” wanted to see it only because they heard she was directing it.

Bottom line: Angie puts butts in seats. Aniston doesn’t. And you have to wonder why her supposed “legion of fans” doesn’t support her films.

  • Joy B Angie

    DRF, where are you ?

  • kellyf

When did I say she was more successful than Angelina? You’ve gone from somewhat intelligent debate to downright pettiness, and now I’ve lost interest. Jen haters love to say she can’t open a movie, but you’ll never convince me that Jason Sudeikis was the big draw of We’re the Millers and that people flocked to see Marley and Me for just Owen Wilson and a dog. “She can’t open a movie” is the cry of typical Angelina fans say when their “every movie of hers flops” argument doesn’t fit. If it’s a flop, it’s because of her, but if it’s a success, it had nothing to do with her. And yes, pulling in 100m plus at the box office is killing it. At least be a big enough person to admit when someone you don’t like has success. I expected more from you. Enjoy the rest of your day.

  • Cheyenne

People flocked to see Marley and Me because they loved the book. That movie wasn’t about any of the actors; it was all about the book.

Sorry, but pulling in $100 mil at the box office might have been killing it fifteen years ago, but now it’s considered moderately successful. Once you get over $200 mil you’re in blockbuster territory (as long as the movie didn’t cost $100 mil to make).

  • kellyf

So tell me something… Still Alice hasn’t made $1m yet. So was this movie a failure for Julianne Moore? In fact, almost none of her movies have cracked 100 million… so is her career in the same tailspin that you perceive Anistons to be in?

  • Cheyenne

Still Alice will clean up when it goes into wide release. (I thought it already was.)

  • kellyf

So it’s going to go from making less than a million to making $400 million in wide release? I mean, that’s the standard you set for a successful movie, no? If making $100 million isn’t killing it in this day and age… again, by your standard… Then that’s what this movie is going to have to do to “clean up”, right?

  • Cheyenne

Actually, a successful movie according to the studios is a movie that makes double its production budget plus its marketing costs. Anything after that is profit. So if a movie cost $20 mil to make and another $10 mil to market, it will have to make at least $50 mil before it shows a profit. $10 mil these days is a very low budget for a movie. Most big-budget movies make their profit from the overseas market. “Maleficient” made over $758 million and probably $500 mil of that came from overseas. So a lot of different things factor into it.

the movie was filmed at least 1 year ago max 2 years ago and they couldnt get distribution at all. that wig is terrible -

  • norah mackenzie

it was filmed around the same time as cake – as far as i know

  • norah mackenzie

about the box office reports of all her films – there have been nothing but duds – keep aside meet the millers where she had to strip etc – the point is that all her films for the last few years have neither worked either commercially nor critically. fact is fact. now cake was under embargo for months until its release date it was postponed a few times – and even the reviews didnt do her any favours – not oscar worthy – she may have acted well for herself and compared to different movies but neither the film or her performance has done wonders either once again critically or commercially. she is stuck in the same role again and again – and it is very unlikely that she will be signed for any big a list movies either. perhaps she sd take a break and see what movies she wants to focus on because this movie isnt her in the lead role either – she plays a supporting role. i dont think rom coms can help her anymore either. maybe she sd think what she really wants to do

  • norah mackenzie

its been more than 3 flops – wanderlust life of crime hb2 and cake and even earlier – meet the millers was successful but mostly due to the hero – her movie career is stuck in limbo – and box office usually counts as what was said since she is unable to be a critical darling

  • norah mackenzie

look u can compare aj to jennifer all you like – if we are just talking abt jennifer she has had lots of flops because she is stuck doing the same roles – she tried to move away by doing dramatic indie films but none of it has worked. why discuss aj ? at least she can carry a movie on her name itself. can jennifer do the same? if jennifer did well enough for cake perhaps the box office wd be different – the fact that it has not set the box office on fire shows that pple dont want to watch her – maybe it will change but i dont think so. compare julianne moore or american sniper – if pple want to see a movie they will no matter what the critics say – critics have not really liked the movie though they have said that jennifer aniston better than usual.

  • norah mackenzie

not quite hb – she was in the movie for not that long and for hb2 was in the movie for abt 20 mins or so – she cannot carry a film unless she has a male opposite her -

  • norah mackenzie

before u get het up let me remind you that marley and me was over 5 years ago – pple do change = and please check your facts if we are talking abt recent movies from 2011 onwards for example none ofher movies have been great box office hits.

  • norah mackenzie

and the reason why maleficient did better was because not only it was disney but because it was aj same like unbroken – with all unknown actors doing a war movie and yet it has made over 110 million in the usa so far and another 15 so far overseas. which jennifer aniston movie has done that much business recently. possible hb and meet the millers but we are talking abt her last few films

  • kellyf

Like a typical Angelina fan, you just say whatever you want and present what you want to be true like it is the truth. Let’s break down the problems with your statement. 1. She’s had at least 7 movies that made over 100 million. That is not “nothing but duds.” Sorry. 2. Saying every movie for the last few years has worked neither commercially nor critically… you even followed this one up with “fact… that’s cute. But wrong. We’re the Millers and Horrible Bosses were big box office successes, and she’s been really well reviewed in Life of Crime, Cake and in a few early reviews of She’s Funny That Way. Sorry. 3. Stuck in the same role… the most TIRED and unfounded argument and no one in the industry has said that any of her past 4 or 5 roles have been anything like previous roles. Sorry. 4. Won’t be getting any big movie offers… based on what? Consistently getting movie offers for the past decade, with her most recent one garnering her 3 award noms. You’re right, I bet her movie career is all but over. 5. Taking a supporting roles means she needs to refocus on what she wants to do? Should Meryl Streep do the same? She’s a supporting role in Into the Woods, and man, she’s been SO UNSUCCESSFUL with that movie, huh? 5. You keep saying that she should think about what she wants to do when nothing indicates she HASN’T thought about it. She’s said she wants to do more interesting work and has been taking on even different types of comedies from what she’s done in the past and is starting to take on more dramatic work. I’m not going to waste my time pointing out the errors in all of your other comments, that would simply take all day. Maybe go back to the Angelina boards and obsess over hating her there… everyone agrees with everyone’s delusions over there so you’ll continue to be well-received.

  • Marty

I don’t think you should waste your time with these loonatics. They don’t see the difference between an indie, small film which isn’t promoted to death and big studio movie with a huge promotion. They would tell that Cake has to earn 100 mil to be considered a success. Angie’s movie, who costed probably 6 times more than Cake (not counting marketing) has barely exceed 100 millions so… Talk to the hand – that would be more productive and you will learn more. If Aniston will get an Oscar they will say she bought it. Btw, Jolie bought GG nom for godawful Tourist LOL!

  • Cheyenne

“Cake” didn’t even break a million over the weekend, and it’s got nowhere to go but down.

  • jojie

the only thing that caught my interest to even bother reading this is Imogen Poots. She is beautiful <3
