Joaquin Phoenix On Awards: 'The Oscars Have Completely Changed My Career for the Better'
Joaquin Phoenix is dapper as he attends a photo call for his latest film Inherent Vice at Hotel De Russie on Tuesday (January 26) in Rome, Italy.
The 40-year-old actor was joined by screenwriter and director Paul Thomas Anderson as they also took part in a press conference for the flick, which is playing in select theaters now.

Joaquin recently opened up about winning awards and how they’ve effected his career.
“Awards can do amazing things for an actor’s career. The Oscars have completely changed my career for the better,” Joaquin expressed (via The Guardian). “There’s also a danger that it becomes this thing, that you’re constantly seeking this validation, that you’re trying to do something to get a particular response. I don’t like that type of acting … Bad acting is being self-aware, being self-conscious. The only approval I seek is the director’s. You want to get it right. You want to achieve what the director’s vision is.”
