  • Cosmic Cow

I’m not a fan ,but that’s great. How has no American actress not been nominated in 30 years?

  • http://rememberingthedesireisprivate.blogspot.com/ GFW

    We don’t deadpan well enough.

  • Jean Morel

The Cesar Awards are basically the French Oscars. Therefore they center exclusively on French films, and there aren’t that many American actresses who appear in French films in major roles.

  • Jean Morel

Completely undeserved, a joke of a nomination. Even within that mess of a “film”, Chloe Moretz deserved a nomination much more than Stewart.

  • Debbie

Ahh that explains how angry bird stewart got nominated

  • Graham Johnstone

very well deserved…her and Juliette Binoche were both excellent!

  • Cate

LMAO! KStew and her PR people stay being thirsty and doing the most. It’s blatantly obvious they sent out a release to the press as I’ve seen this same article / title on a couple of other sites.

Anyway, what’s so amazing about that? Maybe if she was the first American actress but she’s not? Numerous English, German, Italian actresses have been nominated for a Cesar and most of them were nominated for French language performances which is far more impressive. Why is it so remarkable if an American is nominated? French films rarely cast American actresses so it’s not like she’s had a lot of competition and it was an English language feature.

  • rocknmovie

For playing yet another variation of herself…

  • rocknmovie

Chanel’s spokersperson? For a handbag, while she never carries a purse, it’s too feminine for her.

  • liss

I pity you really … why are you here if you don´t like her , you are a robert fan according to your avi I bet you would be happier if you stop reading this articles about kristen and concentrate on robert and twigs

  • liss

need classes on reading comprehension ?

  • St. Ides

NOT American, remember, Justjared. She is British! just to remind! :)

  • https://twitter.com/thedreadofpenny Penny Dreadful

    This is a joke, right?

  • Legendary Trolly

    Who is british?

  • Guest

Yes!!! Love this news. Wish you well Kristen Stewart!

  • NinaN

Bull. I’m not even a fan, but to say she got nominated because she’s American is dumb as hell. They usually favour European actors, but it’s cool she got a nomination. You do realize out of your American bubble that there are a tonne of quality British, French, and other European films that she was competing against. It’s not like America is only capable of prestigious films.

  • JEN

    Congrats!!

  • LiiL

    ohyeaaah c’mon girl! :D

  • bailey

Lilly u cunt what did I say about mentioning my name she isn’t going to win so there

  • bailey

Yeah she’s a real joke she won’t win there’s more.talented French actresses that will blow her shit out of the water lol congrats Bella oops I mean Kristen look luck trying to beat other more talented actresses who can actually act lol

  • bailey

It’s knda sad that she got it I mean she couldn’t even get one in her home country lol I guess critics really think she’s a joke if she has to go to Europe to get one hahahaha stay in Paris Kristen and don’t come back

  • bailey

Always will be a rob fan we are sorry we don’t kiss Kristen’s ass like u do don’t forget to pull her underwear down before u kiss it smooch hahahaha

  • oleironleg01

    yay, for Kristen!

  • Barbarella

This is interesting apparently Chanel are investors in CoSM the movie which she is honored for. They just gave her a handbag deal and the other Chanel deal. I’m betting Karl wants to protect his investment and is making her Carry those handbags to pay for the nomination he might be a member of or helped her with? Here’s the blurb.

CANNES, France — Chanel is stepping behind the camera.

The fashion house has made its debut financing films with “Clouds of Sils Maria,” starring Juliette Binoche, Chloë Grace Moretz and Kristen Stewart, who can be seen in advertisements for Chanel’s Métiers d’Art Paris-Dallas collection.

Directed by Olivier Assayas, the film screens today at the Cannes Film festival, where it is one of 18 movies vying for the coveted Palme d’Or

  • bledel

Lol there are plenty of american actor/Actresses in french films in major roles who were not nominated ! The Cesar academy considers pure talent, original and beautiful acting which Kristen demonstrates in Clouds of sils Maria ! she impressed all the critics and moviegoers who saw the film. And by the way cinema is a sweet part of french culture no need of overacting and endless campaign for a nomination.Stop the bitterness and the jealousy,it’s kinda pathetic.

    Congrats Kristen !

  • Melanie Merle

Oh Kristen, how I knew you’d have the last laugh. Choosing scripts over fame. Just like Jodie taught you. BRAVO.

  • Melanie Merle

bailey. She’s still richer, happier, more beautiful and intelligent than you. Scuttle.

  • Missy

    Congrats to her :)

  • Jean Morel

“Lol there are plenty of american actor/Actresses in french films in major roles”

    Nope

“she impressed all the critics and moviegoers who saw the film”

    Nope

  • ZD

    Congratulations Kristen!

She was brilliant in that movie. The combination of her acting and the French cinematography was mesmerising. The movie stayed with me for many days after seeing it.

On a personal note, it took me back in time to when I was a young student and took a very badly paid job at my local Art Cinema only to be able to see all the movies. It reminded me of that long forgotten love affair of mine and I am very grateful for that.

  • Shade

It’s a fact that she has received pretty much unanimously great reviews for her role in Sils Maria, from European as well as American reviewers. It’s easy enough to look up.

Of course she wasn’t the only non-French actor who competed for a César. Even if she were, she would still have to have made a good enough impression to be nominated at all for such a prestigious award.

  • Shade

What’s wrong with Paris and France? Personally I prefer European cinema (being European and all myself) to Hollywood movies, which are more often than not dumbed down and overacted. I even much preferred Exarchopolous’ performance to Blanchett’s in Blue Jasmine last year.

  • Shade

It is a prestigious award and she just got nominated for it? That is what’s amazing. Of course she had a lot of competition, not least from, to the professional filmmakers that decided on the nominations, French actresses.

  • Shade

You sure will not get any awards for originality. Here are a few quotes from more informed people that actually know something about acting:

“Kristen Stewart shows more emotions than most actors ever will. I loved her in speak. She’s incredible, incredible.” – Robert DeNiro

“I always say that Kristen is like [Marlon] Brando, and I’ve always thought that she had that incredible sort of internal ability to submerge into the role and be lost in it in a good way. I see that with the best actors; DeNiro’s like that, so many good actors are like that.” – James Woods

“Kristen Stewart is one of the mad ones. But mad in a beautiful way. And she is determined to make people mad. [...] Stick around my friends, and there will be much, much more to come. Thinking about it, I am smiling already.” – James Gandolfini (may he rest in peace)

  • Shade

Congratulations to Kristen for this prestigious award nomination! What an honour. It’s even more amazing that an American actress was nominated instead of a French actress (and competing mostly European actresses). For her detractors I just want to say that Kristen has received pretty much unanimously rave reviews for her performance in Sils Maria from critics all over Europe and the US (this is a fact and can easily be looked up). Here are a few quotes by the way from informed people who know “a little bit” about acting:

“Kristen has so much emotion available. Such a depth of feeling. Sometimes you can literally see her feelings on her skin. I loved working with her. She was a true partner, she’s a wonderful actress, and she’s a great friend.” – Julianne Moore
