Jena Malone Feared Not Being Accepted on 'Hunger Games' Set

Jena Malone shows her stripes on the cover of ASOS magazine’s March 2015 issue, out on newsstands now!

Here’s what the 30-year-old actress has to share with the mag:

On her role in Hunger Games: “Sam Claflin and I were the newbies, and the rest of the cast had their own little families by the time we arrived. We were like are they going to accept us?! The set was super loved up and awesome.. like going to summer camp- you already know what your good at and who you love, and where our things are.”

On her online shopping: “Clothes should make you feel like you can do anything. They should make you feel like a superhero or feel beautiful… I don’t like it when I’ve bought something expensive and it stops me from having fun. These days it’s all about smart buys. That’s how I shop. I figure out what I want and then find it online.”

On being red carpet ready: “When I was younger I used to style myself- I was a tomboy and I would show up having brushed my hair, wearing a dress that I’d had for three years. Now I’m lucky to be able to borrow things to wear to premieres- it’s like having a love affair with fancy things and then I have to give them back. Like that grand Cinderella story that evaporates at dawn.”

Jena’s a good actress but this is a pathetic comment. This is what the fashion industry wants you to believe. Hey, nothing wrong with enjoying nice clothing. But basing your identity on how you dress and how stylish you are? Time to get a life! Resist being turned into a robotic consumer. Go join a club or do some volunteer work. Resist being this pathetic.

Aside, supporting your local store is a good thing. Don’t buy everything online, especially not books. Buy better quality and less, even if that means spending a bit more. Avoid fast fashion.
