Bruce Jenner Will Discuss Transition in Diane Sawyer Interview

Bruce Jenner is reportedly going to sit down for an interview with Diane Sawyer to discuss transitioning to a woman.

The 65-year-old former Olympian’s decision to go with an ABC News interview is reportedly causing some trouble at NBCUniversal, according to the New York Post. This is because the reality star is currently working on a docu-series for the E! network, which is part of NBCUniversal.

Bruce is in final negotiations right now for the interview and portions of it will film this week if all goes to plan.

Over the weekend, a new report claimed that not all of Bruce‘s children knew of the transition plans until recently.

Whichever network he chooses to talk to, two things are guaranteed: it will be an absolute freak show and ratings will go through the roof.

I won’t be tuning in. I find this whole business grotesque.

  • Drew Flanagan

I call bullshiat. Everyone keeps citing ‘anonymous family sources’. I’ll believe it when it lops off his junk. Until then, it’s a marketing ploy. imho

  • Robin Perkins

I am sure your opinion of Bruce Jenner is the least of his worries. Narrow minded people have no place in society. You should be on a island all by your pathetic selves .. With assholes who think like you do….

  • R Hugh Sirius

What could be more embarrassing? I have the answer: The 1976 Olympics (Montreal) Silver medalist Guido Kratschmer and Bronze medalist Mykola Avilov (in the Decathlon) are both thinking: How did we lose to this “guy?”

  • perky

It’s funny that his children didn’t know until recently, because I knew about a year and a half ago. They must not read TMZ. (ha)

  • perky

Oooooh an island! With sand, crystal blue water, and umbrella drinks. That sounds wonderful!

  • perky

“Lops off his junk” … you’re like a modern day Shakespeare. LOL!

  • Chad Williams

To lop or not to lop… that is the question.

  • laura

Honestly this sounds off to me… It sounds very strange that a 65 year
old man who had six children from 3 different women decides to
    transition to a woman.
I’m ot criticising transitioning in general
(it’s a topic I know very little of), I’m just saying that he lived his
long life coherently with a certain identity and preferences (as a man
who liked women), it’s not like he seemed confused, up until he
    separated from Kris.
I understand tha people may realize later in
life what their true identity is, but I guess he would have understood
after the first marriage that this wasn’t his life. Normally (as far as I
know), people who are confused about their identity or preferences stay
alone or have just relationships with no strings attached.
    All of
this brings me to believe that either he is just making stylistc choices
(the hair, the lipstick) that aren’t in the normality of things, or
they are making him do it (whatever “IT” is- really transitioning or
just doing weird things) because of audience and popularity.
    I wouldn’t be too surprised!

  • Jimbot

Becoming a woman does not mean Jenner is interested in having sex with men. Some transsexuals are attracted to the same sex. He maybe a lesbian.

  • Drew Flanagan

    Thanks ;)

  • pryvett

Would you allow anyone to “make” you do such a thing to yourself? I believe that people who ‘transition’ very late in life have lived all their lives knowing that they are someone different inside, but for many reasons – societal and family expectations, particularly, they wait for years until they are at a point in their lives that the effect on those who are important to them has diminished from utter shock to compassionate understanding. It appears that he has reached just that stage in his life and now is the right time for him to ‘cross-over’. IMHO…

  • laura

Yeah, I know, but that wasn’t the point of my comment. I meant that he spent 65 years making the same choice over and over again, going always in the same direction. He didn’t act as if he was confused, that’s why it sounds off to me.

  • laura

What you say is very reasonable, I understand waiting for a good moment, but he kept making choices that were all in the same direction (that of an heterosexual MALE), choice that weren’t needed if he really felt he was a woman for a long time.
I mean, someone who feels like a woman in a man’s body wouldn’t keep getting remarried as a man, even just not to involve other people in frustrating processes like this. I am full of respect for people who transition, but I guess that for his wives if must be hard to think that they lived and shared love and a family with someone who (more or less consciously) felt like a woman inside. They can be supportive, but it must be painful.
So I guess a sensible person wouldn’t put others consciously through this.
Also, not just for the sake of others, but for himself, if he really felt like a woman, why did he live his life as a man to this extent for 65 years? Why impose that on yourself? Wouldn’t you, if knowing that the time wasn’t right to transition yet, prefer to just wait for the right time to come?

  • suzybel

Oh wonderful, let me set my pvr. And one question…are the kids going to call him mom or dad?

  • Frank Hall

This is something Cigar boy will be very interested in watching. He comes over as a sex change candidate too. Right Jeff? May these two can get married.

  • pryvett

My response is only unreasonable to you because clearly you have no idea of what it’s like to be him or a person like him; not saying that I do, but I’m at least willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. Don’t misunderstand – I don’t condone the choices that he made to marry, remarry, have children, etc., all of those choices involve other people and their lives – that’s part of the struggle. By making those choices, whom did he really hurt, though? Only himself, because only he was aware of who he really was/is. Perhaps he was still trying to figure things out. Remember, we first became aware of BJ in the ’70′s as an athlete in the Olympics – ‘coming out’ at that time was unthinkable. I would suspect that living his life as a heterosexual male gave him some semblance of normalcy. (In a similar situation, look how long it took Greg Louganis to come out, long after his Olympic swimming days.) In any case, as previously stated, my theory about BJ is simply that, along with my personal opinion, to which I am entitled, just as you are and stating my opinion doesn’t make me “unreasonable”, it just means you don’t agree. No need to reply; this convo is done.

  • laura

You’ve misread, I said that what you say is reasonable, not UNreasonable.

Anyway, I don’t think it’s up to us to condone his action or not, I just think that it’s difficult to believe that a person who lived his life so fully with an identity just now reveals that he had another identity all along.
But you’re right when you say that I don’t know what it’s like to be like him, so obviously mine (as anybody else’s) are just impressions and reflections.
Anyway, as I said I have my doubts. I think these people would do pretty much anything for celebrity, so I wouldn’t be surprised if someone from the inside concocted this just to make it the next bomb they’re going to drop.
    But it’s just a supposition.

For sure, one way or the other, what’s in the human mind is such a mistery…

  • laura

Also, I wonder how they’re going to explain it to his grandchildren…

  • ginger

You are the one that is “grotesque” Penny

  • ginger

Sometimes it is easier to live in denial.

  • https://twitter.com/thedreadofpenny Penny Dreadful

You’re 3 days late to the show, Ginger.

    Looney Toon!

I would say “Sick”, not grotesque
