'Fifty Shades of Grey' Movie Debuts with Big Thursday Gross!
The Fifty Shades of Grey movie is off to a hot start already after debuting on Thursday with $8.6 million in late night showings.
The highly anticipated movie was released in 2,830 theaters the night before the official launch date, when it will hit 3,646 theaters across the country.
Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson‘s movie logged the second-highest late night showing for an R-rated film behind The Hangover 2‘s $10.4 million. It is the top gross ever for a late night showing for any Universal Pictures movie, as well as any movie ever released in February.
It is being predicted that the movie will gross $75 million over the long President’s Day weekend, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
