'Fifty Shades of Grey' Movie Debuts with Big Thursday Gross!

The Fifty Shades of Grey movie is off to a hot start already after debuting on Thursday with $8.6 million in late night showings.

The highly anticipated movie was released in 2,830 theaters the night before the official launch date, when it will hit 3,646 theaters across the country.

Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson‘s movie logged the second-highest late night showing for an R-rated film behind The Hangover 2‘s $10.4 million. It is the top gross ever for a late night showing for any Universal Pictures movie, as well as any movie ever released in February.

It is being predicted that the movie will gross $75 million over the long President’s Day weekend, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

  • Media Sales Information Report

This Justjared site is a british site so it is obviously writing about britain when it says country as the brits based this garbage in America but everyone knows Americans have never heard of the book and it never sold in America. The british box-office lies and fakery about the sales of this junk notwithstanding, everyone knows America never even saw the book and the stupid british movie was made in britain. This is all illegal imported box-office and media sales fraud if they`re trying to pass this junk off in America.

Projecting 75 millions dollars, there is a lots of lonely people out there. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zMuscKEmV3I

  • CinemaBlend

Way overinflated projections, especially considering this book and movie are unknown in the real America where those socalled “projections“ are supposedly coming from, which of course they are really not. The British really screwed up in trying to get the real America to notice the book and movie, let alone to actually buy it and read it. MAJOR FAIL!! BAD BAD MOVE FOR A BAD BAD MOVIE, BRITISH!! YOU FAIL AGAIN!!

  • Alina

People would actually pay money to see this crap? wow..this planet is dumb

  • Dave M.

WOW!! In America you can`t even find the book or the movie. Why did the dumb brits base this story in America if America has never even heard of it?

  • Lee

    Hype

  • MEDIA TELESCOPE MAGAZINE

How were these impossible figures calculated, exactly, especially when the book and movie are primarily unknown, particularly within America where the brits stupidly targeted and based this fiction. The Americans never bought the book because it was never sold within America except for airports and on the internet, and you`d be hard pressed to find the movie shown or even heard of anywhere within America. You just plainly won`t find them. These figures are quite bogus and misleading. A flat-out lie, really.

  • Tia

I can’t wait to watch it.

  • Willa

When will “media entertainment“ sites like this one start calling her by her real name, Donna, instead of her fake “stage name“, Dakota. It`s not like the Americans actually bought into this junk.

  • Piya

excuse me the pre ticket sales itself was 45 millioin estimate…so combine wit that and after sales would have added up…get a life about brit vs american, you arent a statistic reporter!

  • Piya

movie is a super success and i think all the haters here are dying to see it fail so hate it more becoz its become a super success…dont worry about the figures it will become official soon enough on all the websites including wikipedia…so relax!

  • Naynay

I saw it and I must say it’s really boring, I read parts of the first book that felt quite interesting and sensual and mysterious but the movie is very straightforward its like : a girl meets a billionaire who’s into sadism and they start having a relation and he buys her guifts and then she’s getting spanked too much so she leaves END

I was shocked not by the actors but by the writing, the scenario, the directing, I mean everything feels awkward nothing feels sensual and so many scenes are cut out and so many are just re written it’s just a mess

  • dalovelee

Ok this movie is a fail. When in Hollywood has $8 million become a box office boon? The pr is skewed to make idiots believe $8 million is a hit. By paying off sites like this one ..who editors will happily pay to say this garbage is doing great.

What rock have you been living under? The series sold over 45 million books in the US alone and over 100 million worldwide. The books were marketed and sold in brick and mortar bookstores like Borders and Barnes and Noble and over the internet via e-books, which, if you are not a moron, is the 21st century way to purchase and read books — on an e-reader….so of course people bought it over the internet. The movie has definitely been heard of in the US — but I guess you just spend time in your basement and do not get out much or watch tv news.
