This is pure Hollywood absurd. David Fincher is a truly amazing director and he did really good job with this American version of TGWTDT. And still, there is no what – money? time? to carry on with the rest of the trilogy. But hey, let’s continue with this horrible pseudo-BDSM 50 shades of nonsense. Rooney’s rendition of Lisbeth was terrific and I loved the dynamic between her and Daniel Craig.

  • FerCat

Don’t blame 50 shades. They funneled money to franchises like Spider-man and MIB while letting Dragon go to waste.

50 Shades of Grey: budget ($40 mil) box office gross so far ($414 mil). TGWTDT: budget ($90 mil) box office gross ($232 mil). It should be obvious why one will get both sequels and the other won’t.

Noomi Rapace did such an exquisite job on the ORIGINAL version of TGWTDT. Thank god there is not a sequel to this garbage.

Sorry that movie was horrible. The Swedish version was hands down the best!

Yeah, I agree that the Swedish version was really good as well. I enjoyed watching it, but for me (so obviously, in this realm it is a very subjective opinion) Rooney’s Salander was the perfect impersonation of my own imagination of the character created by Stieg Larsson. I wouldn’t, though, call neither of these movies “garbage” – this is kind of disrespectful towards the amount of work done by both Noomi and Rooney in order to morph into Lisbeth. One thing that I definitely missed from the Swedish adaptation was the music, Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross created a pretty decent soundtrack there.
@fercat:disqus, I just used it as an example to show how much money is wasted on useless movies that represent barely to no artistic value. At least in case of David Fincher’s movies, it is a decent piece of good cinematography, awesome use of lighting and proper acting. I am not particularly mad at them for doing MIB or Spider-Man (though I think that Spidey is going to feel pretty comfortable as a part of Marvel universe), but just think of all these Z-rated movies that are released every single year.
@Ishelton22, it just makes me feel sad that we are bound to expect the decline of decent movies for the sake of poor, money-making films with a storyline based on sexual harassment. All for the cash.

Rapace’s portrayal was wooden and dry. Mara did a much better job at portraying Salander’s Asperger-like tendencies. Also, the Swedish version is just that, the Swedish version, not the original. Fincher changed the ending for the better in the English version.
