Leonard Nimoy Dead - Star Trek's Spock Actor Dies at 83

Leonard Nimoy has died at the age of 83 after a battle with end-stage chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.

The actor passed away on Friday morning (February 27) at his home in the Bel Air neighborhood of Los Angeles. His wife Susan Bay Nimoy confirmed the sad news to The New York Times.

Leonard announced that he was suffering from the disease last year and said it was due to years of smoking, even though he had given up the habit three decades ago.

He was best known for his work as Spock in the television series Star Trek in the mid 1960s, for which he received three Emmy Award nominations.

We send out our thoughts and condolences to his loved ones during this difficult time.

    NO!

I was a star trek fan before I watched star wars…I was about 7 when I saw Wrath of Khan and I remember that day…we had really bad weather, strange colored skies and I sat in front of the tv watching wrath of Khan and just enthralled. I was torn up as a kid when Spock died in that movie.

Fast forward on twitter and about 18 months ago, I tweeted LN, and he was hilarious in response to me. Just an amazing person. I’m glad he connected with his fans.

GOD Bless you, dear man. You helped mold generations of young minds to the potential that awaits all of us. The NASA astronauts filled us with awe at their accomplishments, but the crew of the Enterprise filled us with inspiration, taught us what loyalty, and love, and courage are. You helped make me a better person. Thank you, and Goodbye.

one thing’s for sure, if Shatner decides he’s obliged to speak at the funeral, Nimoy is guaranteed to kick his way straight out of the fresh pine box there and then.
