Some of Giuliana Rancic's Comments About Zendaya's Hair Were Edited Out: Report

Giuliana Rancic‘s comments about Zendaya‘s hair at the 2015 Oscars have caused a ton of controversy and now, it turns out, there was more to Giuliana‘s comments than what originally aired on Fashion Police.

In the full clip, viewed by People, the 40-year-old Fashion Police correspondent started out her critique of Zendaya by saying her hair looked “really heavy – it overwhelms her, and it’s just too boho.” She then reportedly made a peace sign symbol, before saying, “Zendaya is more high-fashion. The hair to me on her is making her a little more boho. Like I feel like she smells like patchouli oil. Or weed.”

Giuliana has since apologized for her comments and Zendaya accepted her apology.

    LET IT GO!!!
    Let this story die already!!!

Like a lot of us thought. She was just saying she looked too hippie for the Oscars. Why E deleted the part that made it obvious what G was talking about is beyond me. People need to stop jumping on the racism card though. It’s being played so often people are becoming insensitive to actual racism.

  • whatsup

I will never understand why any of this seemed to be racist at all. Giuliana Rancic should have never been forced to apologize.
To me Zendaya made it into a racist issue.

  • nemo

    pr damage… *yawn*

  • sunshine

Ok for real I am black and the hair do is atrocious on her, she is so young and pretty and it does look like it weighs a ton that is the truth. Her stylist should be shot and she herself took the dreds out saying that they were too tight.

  • Kaitlyn

But aren’t you outraged that someone made a rude comment on a show who’s premise is to make rude comments?

This is exactly what’s wrong with this anti-bullying generation. They grow up being told that everyone is beautiful and everyone is perfect, so when someone makes a comment they dislike then suddenly they are encouraged to have a fit about it.

  • NeverEclipsed81

that’s not that bad.. kelly made that worse than it had to be. she does look bohemian.

  • Zoee

This WHOLE THING IT IS PURE CRAP, OVERREACTING I think this is a plan of the stupid Kelly that feel jealousy of Giuliana anorexic body and profile because Giuliana has gone to school study to become a journalist and has SKILL that Kelly NEPOTISM Osbourne does n´t has and will never have

  • Franck

I am black and I couldn’t agree more! It baffles me when black people/society overuse the racism card for nothing.

  • Sha Har

    GET RID OF GIULIANA!

  • Zoee

I believe Kelly NEPOTISM Osbourne was having a DIVA actuated episode and then was demanding thing and put people from E! to choose between Giuliana and her and people from E! says ,” we let you go” , and for you dignity will allow you to says it is because of this so everybody win

  • FormerLamark

I still don’t understand it. So, this Guliana has been in the celebrity world for long years, but now she saw the HALF WHITE Zendaya’ hair and she suddenly became racist meanwhile she adores full black celebrities, the arab Amal Alamuddin and all the mexican celebrities, never did a racist comment so far, but she suddenly has a racist issue-problem with the HALF WHITE Zendaya???? Is this serious???
And why she has no problem with Lupita Nyong’o, for example?? Why just a half white person?

  • Gabrielle

I think her getting fired is a little much. If Joan Rivers had said the same…no one would have blinked an eye. But Giuliana is not Joan and she doesn’t need to try to be. Joan put in the years and built up her reputation so she and comedians like her (e.g. Rodney Dangerfield) can get away with comments like that.

She shouldn’t be fired. They need to bring Kelly back though. I wont watch unless they can get Kelly back.

And Zendaya’s hair is gorgeous. Although I was hoping she would keep the pixie cut.

  • Gabrielle

What does her being biracial the have to do with anything? “Half white” doesn’t lessen derogatory comments at all. A person could be 1/16th black and if someone calls them the “n” word…it would be just as wrong as if the person was 1/2 or more.

  • kellyf

Didn’t think it was racist before. Now even more so.

  • FormerLamark

    1. You don’t understand me. I say, if she were racist she wouldn’t start at a half white-half black person and not now but at a full black one!!!

    2. So you say, if someone tells a black/negro/arab/mexican/asian person that you are black/… etc, so this is already a racism???? What is your problem? That not all the 7 billion people are white and there are four subspecies: europoid, mongoloid, negroid, australoid (or 9 subspecies in american system)? And the existence of this four subraces and admitting of this four subspecies is already racism???? If I am not racist then I should say to all 7 billion people, “you white”? Is this serious??? Should I pretend like as if black/asian/….people were WHITE in order NOT to be a racist??? Are you serious???

Don’t fall through to the other side of the horse, please.

In additonal, the europoid subspecies neither unit: there are “darker and lighter” races, and Guliana is the “darker”, because she is italian, it is mediterran race!!!

  • boohoo

ENOUGH ALREADY,.whats the point now..Apology offered and accepted…smear campaign…very few races are conscious of perception of black hair within the African American community. I know several AFRICANS from Africa who would not be caught dead in dreadlocks because of the stigma attached to the hair style

  • Casey C

the full context doesn’t remove the racist assertion that locks = unclean, hippie pothead

  • Maria Ingmar Sandoval

    Damn you’re HOT!

  • Maria Ingmar Sandoval

G should quit E! and work for the Food Network. She can benefit from it if you get my meaning.

  • VreelandGardner

When you have nothing else going for you (like talent)
always play the race care, or show your tits, either one will get you some press

  • Marianne Steinmetz

So what…she did look like that…who cares. There are real problems in this world, does this even qualify? Zendaya and Kelly need to get thicker skin in the business they are in…spoiled brats. So over this story. Guiliana did nothing that we haven’t seen before on FP. If they go PC…might as well pull the plug on the show now! Never watching it again anyway…ruined.

  • gyleches

If Joan had made the comment no one would have said anything. If they did she would just have said her usual, “Grow up!”.

  • Damian

When I watched the show and she made the comments the thing that popped in my head was too hippy not in any way racial. If you want to see real racism on tv tune in to Fox News.

  • https://twitter.com/thedreadofpenny Penny Dreadful

Oh, I see we’re back on this stupid first-world problem again.

  • https://twitter.com/thedreadofpenny Penny Dreadful

Exactly. Patchouili oil is not something typically associated with Black people. It’s associated with hippies and bohemian (“boho”) types.

  • Doris Martin

Yep. Just Giuliananorexic’s team trying to cover for her. No comments were written for her. Nothing was” edited” . She said what she said, trying to be Joan. She’s not Joan, & it backfired on her.

  • Doris Martin

But that’s the thing…….Giuliana is not Joan. Giuliana wants to be the star…..the center of attention. She’s not willing to be a team player, and just play her role on the show. She was trying to out comment everyone & it came back & bit her.

  • Doris Martin

I’m pretty sure this is just her PR people trying to do damage control. I’m calling BS on this article.

  • Legendary Trolly

    im black its not racist

  • marvin3O

not only black people get locks, just so you know. I’ve seen a lot of white people and latins with locks. so why are you turning this onto a racist thing?

  • gyleches

That’s just it; the double standard. One person gets away with it and one person gets villified. Paula Deen gets condemned and her career destroyed for using the N word in private; Alec Baldwin uses slurs again and again and the public still loves him. I call B.S.

  • gyleches

If she had made the comment about a white person wearing dreads (and they do). No one would be offended apparently.

  • genelle

this is what i’ve been saying all along….the press loves to play the racism card.

  • cindy

I am outraged, that you are outraged, by this outrage. It’s outrageous!
I thought Facebook was bad, but Twitter really s ucks.

  • Chingpei

Fashion Police are a group of IDIOTS ….. they couldn’t even SEE that Lupita’s Pearl Dress was Plastic Pearls …. Dumb Hags !!!!

  • R Hugh Sirius

When all else fails, find a scapegoat. Isn’t that the way of Hollywood? Giving Holly the Wood? Si, senor.

  • cindy_in_tx

Using the N-word over 30 years ago, you mean. Baldwin called a reoorter a f*g last year.

  • gyleches

Yes, everyone knows it was 30 years ago. Baldwind has mouthed off plenty over the years.

  • gyleches

Exactly. White women wear dreads too. If it was said about a white woman no one one would care. I’m sick of the double standard. Besides Z is biracial; no one ever seems to recognize the white part. It’s a diss on her mom.
