Albert Maysles Dead - 'Grey Gardens' Filmmaker Dies at 88

Albert Maysles, the legendary documentary filmmaker, has died at age 88.

The news was confirmed by The Criterion Collection, the company that has just released the filmmaker’s movie Grey Gardens back into theaters in honor of its upcoming 40th anniversary.

“Our dear friend Albert Maysles passed away last night at the age of 88. We saw things through his lens that we will never forget. He was a filmmaker up until the end. We loved him and will miss him terribly,” the company wrote on Facebook.

In addition to the famed Grey Gardens, Albert also directed the acclaimed documentaries Salesman and Gimme Shelter.
