During the hearing, Marvin Gaye‘s family attorney Richard Busch accused the duo of lying and plagiarizing his hit song “Got To Give It Up.”

“When you do something wrong and you lie and you don’t tell the truth, there are consequences. The children brought it this far. Now we’re relying on you,” Richard told the jury.

I think they should just admit it, like Sam Smith and pay the family.

I think this is a ridiculous suit and no one equates their blurred lines with anything done by Marvin Gaye. Ok both songs use musical notes. The jury will probably award the greedy family something because they see two wealthy singers and think …they can afford it.

Oh god! What are they going to declare? Its a well known secret!!

  • plez

As some great writers and musicians have said if you look hard enough you can find songs in history that have borrowed from other songs. It just that most don’t have greedy families(like the Gaye family) and musicians (like Petty) suing over it.

Really? Sue hip-hop for plagiarising? 99 % of all hip-hop songs sample other songs!

  • xxx.AIDS.xxx

The lyrics arent plagiarized and the melody could be similar.

But its not a hip hop song..

Ok then.. A hip pop song. A pop song. A pharrell song…
