Julianne Moore: E!'s Mani-Cam is 'Humiliating'

Julianne Moore looks stunning on the cover of Harper’s Bazaar magazine’s April 2015 issue, on newsstands March 24.

Here’s what the 54-year-old actress had to share with the mag:

On refusing to do E!’s mani-cam: “I’m 54 years old. I can’t make my fingers walk; it’s humiliating! And a guy asked me to lift up my skirt to show them my shoes, and I said, ‘I don’t need to do that. Let’s keep some dignity.’”

On actresses she admires: “Ellen Page [who stars as Moore's girlfriend in the upcoming Freeheld]. Kristen Stewart, I just love her. Emma Stone is fabulous. I love Catherine Deneuve. I love Tilda Swinton.”

On her career: “Some people say, ‘You play happy people,’ and I’m like, ‘No.’ Or ‘You play people who have affairs,’ and I’m like, ‘No.’ Or ‘You play lesbians,’ and I’m like, ‘No!’ I’ve made 50-something movies, so there’s a lot of different people. I like really human stories.”

I believe there is worse in the life of an actress than the mani-cam specially when they ‘re paid to wear jewels or clothes

Whatever Julianne is fabulous on the cover

She is right. Actors are almost exclusively asked about their craft, while actresses get style/fashion/other sexist questions 70% of the time. Fashion and the beauty industry are a huge part of Hollywood, but not just for women, yet mostly women get put on the spot. It’s very condescending, but we shouldn’t be surprised… “Aaron Sorkin: Helen Mirren and Meryl Streep are the only actresses as good as male actors”

She never said it was the worst thing in life.

Not true: I can count many more; Marion Cotillard, Jessica Chastain, Tilda Swinton, Viola Davis, Lupita Nyong’o, Rinko Kikuchi and many many more. And there is so many bad/average male actors: George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Ben Affleck, Matt Damon. The only outstanding “famous” male actor now is Leonardo DiCaprio
