Paul Walker Is Remembered at 'Furious 7' SXSW Screening

A screening of Furious 7 took place late Sunday (March 15)/early Monday (March 16) at the 2015 SXSW Festival and there was a special tribute to the late Paul Walker at the event.

“On a serious side: We obviously lost a dear friend, brother, comrade when we were making this movie,” Neal Moritz, producer of the film, told the crowd. “He was really the best guy I ever met in my world — in my life. When we decided we were going to continue this movie, we were determined to honor his legacy and our love for him forever. I just want to ask one big favor of everybody. You guys are going to get to see the movie tonight without knowing what happens to Paul’s storyline. Whatever you want to say after the movie is cool, but please let future audiences see it the way you’re going to see it tonight.”

“This movie is the highlight of my career,” Neal added. “I’m so proud of what we’ve done. And I know Paul Walker would be smiling down on all of us.”

Star of the film Tyrese Gibson was also in attendance, “The reason that we kept this thing going became on behalf of our brother Paul Walker.”

The film is dedicated to his memory, and there’s a montage tribute to Paul at the end, THR reports.

If they did it for his honor, they wouldn’t continue for ff8…. sadly they are doing it for money… but that is hollywood.

  • Guest

Exactly, and that is the reason Paul wanted to quit both Hollywood and Fast and Furious.

Just two years ago, Paul was at SXSW for the premiere of “Hours.” Folks should remember him for that role instead of this money-grabbing piece.

    very well said!

That was the guy who died while driving that Porsche 100mph on a city street and hit a tree or something. Right?

By looking at this board I see I’m not the only who is not feeling this movie.

  • RayonLight

He wasn’t driving, he was the passenger.

Everyone who is a true fan of Paul, is able to tell what is really going on here and personally I am not going to watch that movie just to keep his name clear!

  • lalasayswhat

    Ok. Thanks.

Paul Walker seemed really lovely and his death was a tragic event. But that aside, this movie looks atrocious, like the rest in the series. Lots of heavy handed posing shots and RIDICULOUS action bits. I don’t think it’s actually encouraging people to be risky about driving; it’s just that it’s a crap franchise.
