Famed 'Odd Couple' Director Gene Saks Dies at 93

Gene Saks sadly passed away from pneumonia on Saturday (March 28) in East Hampton, N.Y.

According to Deadline, the famed director and actor is survived by his wife Keren, whom he married in 1980.

Gene was probably best known for bringing Neil Simon‘s Barefoot in The Park and The Odd Couple to the big screen.

Gene was serious about funny,” Emanuel Azenberg, who produced the Broadway plays of the same name, told the site. “He actually knew what would be funny. Physical humor he understood – the look, here, a pause there.”

Our thoughts go out to all of Gene‘s family and friends during this difficult time.
