New 'Daily Show' Host Trevor Noah Under Fire For Controversial Tweets

Trevor Noah, who was just announced as the replacement for Jon Stewart‘s The Daily Show, is already under fire for some controversial tweets.

The 31-year-old comedian from South Africa wrote some tweets that have been unearthed from years ago that seem to be sexist and/or anti-semitic.

“Behind every successful Rap Billionaire is a double as rich Jewish man. #BeatsByDreidel” one of the tweets reads.

“A hot white woman with ass is like a unicorn. Even if you do see one, you’ll probably never get to ride it.” another tweet reads.

I was prepared to read these and think that people need to just lighten up, but yikes, some of these aren’t good.

  • Richard Simpson

These seem kind of tame. He is a comedian who was trying out jokes. Richard Pryor or George carlin made far worse jokes in there days.

  • Naynay

funny how everytime a black man gets a bit of an opportunity people start digging for dirt (i’m not black btw) every single time it’s like ok let’s get the dirt out, and this joke is FUNNY and it was back in 2010 so come again daammmmmnnnnnn

The comment about the rappers/Jewish businessmen is true, and if anything, it’s an attack against the rappers. Many rappers like Dr. Dre, etc always brag about how they run their own businesses, but in reality, they are just figureheads. The real people behind the scenes running their businesses are people with Harvard business degrees, and many of these people, accountants, MBAs, etc, tend to be Jewish.

Articles like these are written from the standpoint that the writer and we the reader are perfect human beings who have never made mistakes and never said anything approaching controversial. The subject is made to look out of the ordinary and abnormal when in reality they are as human as you or I. Status and achievement money and power will never erase that fact. We’re all human we all make mistakes we all can change and elevate ourselves. I think Trevor Noah is an excellent example of that. After all, look how far he’s come:-)

  • Baseliner

oh shut up and stop being so sensitive. people can’t even make jokes anymore without someone getting offended.

  • Utope

At first glance these don’t seem so bad, but his posts seem to be preoccupied with posts about Jews and women. I’m all for making fun of everyone as long as you’re making fun of everyone and not singling out one or two.

  • Rasha

This definitely makes me want to facepalm, and then I remember all those conservative white radio hosts that abuse pills, are sued for sexual harrassment and somehow they still have jobs. It’s not right, but hopefully he’ll learn from it and move on.

  • ama

Well he can’t diss the jews or he will be looking for another job.

  • sydney jane

And, you think this only happens to black men?

  • Naynay

no but it just is more persistant with black folks like James corden just got the late late show did you hear dirt on him ? the guy who’s replacing david letterman did you hear anything bad about him ? but all the times when a black gets an opportunity or even just an “ethnic” guy, or even women of any color actually it seems as if some people just do everything to take them down like he hasn’t even started yet and people are already jumping on him

  • meli

most of the tweets are 4+ years old and the one from 2014 isn’t that offensive. putting the content of his jokes aside for a moment, his sense of humor seems very amateur. if this is the level of comedy we are going to get, i won’t be watching the Daily Show and will stick with John Oliver and Larry Wilmore. ok, now as for the content of the tweets, i have heard much worse from comedians, doesn’t mean i agree with what he says though, at all. idk what his personal views actually are, and at this point idc cuz i won’t be watching, but from the immaturity of these tweets it seems like he just said whatever for some reaction. and most generic jokes seem to be Jewish jokes.

  • VanityInsecurity

Honestly these jokes can’t even be considered jokes.. lame as hell ..not funny at all.

  • VanityInsecurity

  • piste_five

    you’re probably jewish

  • Jana500

Whoa!!! How stupidly antiSemitic can you get?

Even if he genuinely harbors those thoughts – and let’s hope he doesn’t – as opposed to just being clueless about his comedy, for someone who wants to be a public face how do you post such garbage?

And do it on a regular basis. Idiot!

Guarantee he just lost the Daily Show gig.

  • Jana500

Oh, 4 years ago, when he was 9?

  • Jana500

They do this with EVERYONE. Stop making it something it’s not.

  • Jana500

    WTF does that mean?

  • Jana500

Anyone who makes these jokes repeatedly believes in their premises.

  • Melissa Rose

i thought every single tweet was funny and hes pretty fucking hot too #swoon

  • Jana500

He’s just a creep. Who needs that?

  • emmafabulous

Trevor should be fired, what a pillock.

  • emmafabulous

  • emmafabulous

So you hate Jews, what a good Nazi you are. your parents must be so proud of you. NOT

  • emmafabulous

So Trevor you hate Jews, well FECK YOU

  • Guest

Most of those tweets are from 5+ years ago. People can change.

  • LeoDeGhey

Well, he is probably being defended by a number of Jewish execs. So there’s that. Also if you think his tweets and general social media life wasnt already vetted then you’re mad.

  • Samm Lacroix

all those made me laugh. they’re jokes. calm yourselves

  • meli

ur poor attempt at being a smart ass failed. i believe he is in his early 30s atm. i would hope u could do the math from there.

  • Jana500

Meli, are you for real? You really need my sarcasm explained to you? People are making excuses for him that because it was 4 years ago he was young and stupid and trying out new jokes. Please! He was an adult and had been a professional stand up for about 6 years by then. He knew all about anti-Semitic jokes by then.

They are lame and played out jokes both then and now.

Seems my sarcasm sailed right over your head.

  • Jana500

    There’s no accounting for taste.

  • Rochelle Barozzi

What a POS. The rise in antisemitism is growing by leaps and bounds. But Jews are told to calm down. If this was a white saying it about a black shit would hit the fan. I am so sick of hypocrisy.

  • emmafabulous

You do know that there is LEFTY JEWS that hate Jews, they just love their lefty ways.

  • meli

no, ur attempt at sarcasm was just lame. and u literally just re-phrased what i already said. derp.

  • Milla

They were all funny, shame PC dictates acceptable humor.

  • Nostradamus

Apparently a sense of humor either…

  • Jana500

George Carlin never made jokes insulting people because of their ethnicity or religion or sex. He made jokes about the people who WERE insulting them because those people were ignorant. You can joke without insulting or is that too hard for some people.

  • FormerLamark

Here is a black man who is just “”"”prejudiced”"”", not racist and male chauvinist! And he can do it…for years and everybody was applauding him.

But if someone criticises the idiot moron Zendaya’s idiot hair then everybody
    pants blood vengeance. Congratulations!

  • VanityInsecurity

that’s racist.. and does it really matter what culture I define myself as? unreal.

  • Rochelle Barozzi

And??? I never once mentioned him, his skin color, etc etc. WHAT he said shows everything on who he is and his beliefs. Don’t make this about race. It isn’t. SMDH

  • Milla

I agree that this isn’t about race, however to quote you, “If this was a white saying it about a black shit would hit the fan”-I didn’t make it about race, you did.
