Dr. Fredric Brandt Dead - Celeb Dermatologist Dies at 65

Dr. Fredric Brandt was found dead at age 65 on Sunday (April 5) at his mansion in Miami, Fla.

The dermatologist to the stars reportedly was battling depression after being “devastated” by comparisons to the plastic surgeon character played by Martin Short in the new Netflix series Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt.

Fredric‘s patients included Madonna, Kelly Ripa, and supermodel Stephanie Seymour. He has admitted to using himself to experiment with injections of fillers.

“I’ve been kind of a pioneer in pushing the limits to see how things work and what the look would be,” Fredric told the NYT (via Daily News). “Would I change anything I’ve done? I might not have used as much Botox, because you don’t want to look quite as frozen.”

Look at all ridiculous celebrities grinning and cozying up to this ghoulish man. I’m sorry his life took a bad turn because he felt made fun of. But the fact that he was unable to laugh at himself really tells me that he was used to being treated like the Emperor’s New Clothes and couldn’t handle it when someone poked fun at what was staring people in the face all along.

For a country that’s so anti-bullying, it’s odd that his likeness on the show didn’t get more attention. If kids were to mock a classmate and post it online, it’d be a huge deal. What that show did was bullying on a much larger scale. The writers downplayed his accomplishments to make him a joke. When people looked at him they only saw his appearance. What they don’t see is that he looked that way bc he tested out new methods and procedures on himself before doing them on others. It’s all just really unfortunate.

“looked that way bc he tested out new methods and procedures on himself before doing them on others.” Right… That’s like saying doctors operate on themselves before trying it on others. He probably didn’t like the way he looked just like the celebs and people he used to treat.

Martin short was great on kimmy Schmidt.

I doubt this has anything to do with the show. That’s not how depression works. For someone to be severely depressed to the point of taking his/her own life, there must be plenty of underlying problems the person is facing. You can’t just kill yourself because you got “ridiculed.” Maybe it triggered him, but I don’t think the show is the sole reason to blame. Depression is a very complex illness. Either way, this is sad news, but I just hope the media will stop playing the blame game because I doubt no one knows/will ever know what was really going on in his mind. RIP.

Injections and botox are quick procedures that you can do on yourself if you have knowledge. He’s talked about it in interviews.

bullying? he’s a celebrity cosmetic surgeon who experimented on himself. if he wasn’t prepared for light mockery, then he didn’t really think out his other decisions. there’s a difference between satire and bullying.

Though I feel sad for a man who felt so tortured in his mind, I look at those pics and think he’s a walking poster child for why we need to learn how to age gracefully. This trend is all wrong on many levels. Aging and learning to embrace it, is healthy. So many never get the chance to do so.

I feel bad for anyone that butchers themselves so extensively. Happiness does not come from what you look like, although so many things in this country seem to equate the two. The only thing I see when people have so much plastic surgery is a sad life and a deep insecurity that will never be solved.

I just saw Kimmy Schmidt yesterday and Martin Short was hilarious. I see this today and instantly thought, “OH that looks like the character MS played on Kimmy Schmidt.” But wait…MOST (or a lot of) plastic surgeons look like that…”over worked on”. May he RIP.

sorry, he is responsible and once you all get over pushing this theory we can just feel sorry for this depressed or ill person.
