Gwyneth Paltrow Is Living On Food Stamps for One Week

Gwyneth Paltrow steps out for lunch on Saturday afternoon (April 11) at Tavern restaurant in Brentwood, Calif.

The 42-year-old actress might have been taking a break from her current initiative, which is to live on food stamps for a week.

“This is what $29 gets you at the grocery store—what families on SNAP (i.e. food stamps) have to live on for a week,” Gwyneth tweeted last week along with a photo of her groceries.

“We’re walking in their shoes to see how far we get. I nominate @RidingShotgunLA to do #FoodBankNYCChallenge & donate,” she added.

    Oh wow, for one week..

I already know without a doubt the ugliness that will ensue on this thread about this and so before it begins, I’d like to say I was cynical and judgmental about hunger in America until I started tutoring in not just public schools but also charter ones and its sad just how many kids came to school genuinely hungry. Now, before it’s assumed parents weren’t feeding them, they were. The problem was limits on what was served. I remember seeing a mom being begged to by some snack and heard her tell her kids they had to stretch their allotment and what they wanted was to expensive and it was like .69 cents. It’s ramen noodles, mass 4 for a buck generic veggies, 2 for a buck loaves of nutritionally vacant bread etc. Everybody isn’t lazy trying to get over on the Government. There are elderly people who have to decide between eating and medicine. This shit is real and but for the grace of God it could be you and me.

    For just one week?

Isn’t this the woman who said she’d “rather die than let my kid eat cup-a-soup”? What does she think poor people live off of…

After the week is over she still has her millions waiting for her, unlike others.

She’s trying to do something good but with her it always comes across as false. She’s already messed up and got it totally wrong http://goo.gl/gxzXxY

Is she trying to relate to us? Because unlike her, it’s not just a week for us. We don’t get to go back to our millions at the end of it like her. All because mommy and daddy were rich and famous so she didn’t have to work for it at all. What a messed up world we live in.
