also, what exactly is the point of having another movie about how Peter Parker became Spiderman? We all know how it happened, give us something new. damn.

  • Jenny from the flop

Enough with those spider man reboots! They just made a Spider-Man movie last year

  • Just Saying

Dylan O brien is too old, Marvel wanted a younger spiderman, Tom Holland would have been a great choice thought.

  • linzera

Thats because Peter Parker is a skinny white dweeb. He was never black at all. Why is there is a push for a black Spider Man? What is the point of it? I think the people rallying for it are the true racists actually. If race doesn’t matter then why are you PC morons up in arms over it?

I’m white?? Because of representation you s hit lord. I want DIVERSITY in the godda m n film industry. It’s 2015, son. why make another freaking movie of the same bloody character then? “Peter Parker is a brilliant student, awkward, a nerd, but is branded a thug, a gang member, a criminal, because of his appearance. The media latch onto that and misrepresent him totally. The police humiliated by the fact he refuses to work with them and often punishes cops themselves for brutalizing inocent people or guilty people who still deserve better treatment than they get, attempt to hunt him down” are you telling you don’t see the impact this could have with a POC lead?? this mirrors so much of what’s happening in America. A young black peter in high school, what would that be like? People know and they want to relate. Why would a requirement to play spiderman be “be white”?. !!Also, this a remake hun!!. There are 5 other movies with a white lead. Now you need to sit your butt down on that toilet and think, why are you so aghast at the idea of an african-american peter parker? A latinx peter parker? A middle eastern parker?? Race doesn’t matter, right? So what’s the problem?

  • LiiL

we do not need another reboot….

  • devvv

Spider Man was also a New Yorker…Is there a problem with the fact that Brits are playing him or does the anger only apply to black people?

  • b324

First, you really think people rallying for more diversity in movies are the real racists. What the actual f@ck. That makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.

I’m white and even I’m sick of all white movies. And as a woman, I’m sick of the lack of female characters.

Spiderman could easily be written as and portrayed by a black actor.

If they’re intent on a reboot, make it a rom-com. And have the web come out of his butt which he gathers up for his webshooter.

The Peter Parker storyline is meant for the Captain America: Civil War movie. He’ll make a cameo in it. As part of the agreement with Sony, Marvel/Disney had no choice but to reboot it for Sony.

Actually, Spiderman/Peter Parker’s life story is best suited for a black/Hispanic kid. Think about this: he lives in Brooklyn with her aunt after his parents have been killed.

How many white kids life in Brooklyn with their aunts/grandparents? I can think of many black kids living in Brooklyn with their grandmothers or other extended families, because their parents are absent, killed or in prison.

  • linzera

Yes that is being racist if you only want a black spiderman for the sake of being black. What about if the actor is good or not? Or about being as close to the comics as possible? Asa Butterfiled is a good young actor. He deserves the part.

  • linzera

Exactly my point. If you don’t care about race then why are you making a big deal if he is black or not? Peter Parker in the comics is not black. End of story. Why should you change a character because a bunch of stupid whiny PC folks are angry and throwing tantrums over it?

  • Rose Ryan

I had the same knee jerk response when the Human Torch from The Fantastic Four became a black guy for the upcoming film. However, that was just momentary and then reality set in. These are fictional characters, not historical figures. Even the comics in recent years have diversified and traditional characters have taken on new lives; some as people of color and others as women in traditional men roles. Thor is now a woman. People are going to have to get over how things were in the comics. When it comes to films any and everything is likely to change. Not everyone reads comics or care about how it’s done in the comics. They just want to see a good entertaining films with people that are a reflection of society at large and there are qualified women and people of color to fill those roles. Don’t worry, there still will be more film opportunities available for the white guy. That’s the truth, although I meant it as humor.
