Natalie Portman On Her Directorial Debut: 'You Have to Do What Burns a Fire In You'
Cate Blanchett and Natalie Portman stun on the red carpet at the Sicario premiere during the 2015 Cannes Film Festival on Tuesday (May 19) in Cannes, France.
The pair were joined by Alicia Vikander, and Antonio Banderas and his girlfriend Nicole.
Natalie spoke with WSJ recently about her directorial debut drama A Tale of Love and Darkness.
“You have to do what burns a fire in you,” Natalie said. “The subject matter provoked many ideas and also confused and upset me at the same time.”
“I started working on this project when I was 27 and initially wanted to use an Israeli actor for the role of Fania. I kept pushing for that, but I couldn’t get the financing. Then, all of a sudden, I was 31. So I thought, all right, I’m starting to get the age where I can actually pull this off,” Natalie added.
FYI: Natalie is wearing a Lanvin dress and de Grisogono earrings. Alicia is wearing Louis Vuitton. Cate is wearing Armani Prive.
