Hi Gerry! I’m glad to see you!

  • glenn

Good to see him having fun and spending time with friends in NY. he needs to enjoy himself , he seems to live a dull life in CA

  • Julia

Not to start filming till late July-Sept.? I thought it would start earlier in July.
MJ, from your post on the older thread, sure I would love to see him do comedy. His timing is great, that cheeky way he has. Absolutely.
Come to think of it, he has seen 3 Broadway comedies….a learning experience?

  • MJ

Right!?! :-) Someone start a petition to make it so!! Hehe!

  • Nicole
  • MC

It’s weird that he is being photographed without being stuck to his new sheet’s parter

  • http://rememberingthedesireisprivate.blogspot.com/ GFW

I doubt it. Nothing harder than comedy. And because a few of his films didn’t make the in-between slots in the dramatic way he intended, he started taking flack unfairly for his comedies, which might have hurt his feelings as sensitive as it is. Plus fans encouraged him to do comedy after watching him crack us up so much on shows.

Seems changes have set the start date back, hope it’s nothing serious. Maybe the freaking weather?

Maybe he realizes laughter is not only good medicine but an insight into the human condition because what makes us laugh is personal? And he’s curious to what can draw a crowd? I hope he laughed, laughed a lot.

Thankful for a new thread, and so is BC and MG. (chuckles)

    He looks like himself again.

  • Julia

I agree with everything except the dull part. Just my opinion, not knowing the man, but I think he doesn’t do mundane. We see the starbucks runs but not behind the scenes. He talked about the father/son movie that he’s working on and there are scripts to read for future projects and heaven knows what is going on in his “real” life. I just don’t think he knows the meaning of hum drum imo.

  • MJ

It would be so amazing to be a part of the new filming project!! I’m obviously a huge GB fan, but being able to be a part of something with BBT would be unbelievably awesome! I’ve enjoyed several of his films but he gave me the absolute chills in the “Fargo” tv series!! He really brought that character to life, imo! :-)

  • http://rememberingthedesireisprivate.blogspot.com/ GFW

I think Gerry needed the intellectual stimuli of the Big Apple, and is finding it, at least for awhile. The energy might match him better now since he’s gearing up for work in late July? His brain must have turned to mush living out west. So much to do there as well that’s different than out west.

He has a lot upcoming, professionally, that is interesting. As interesting as him.

  • http://rememberingthedesireisprivate.blogspot.com/ GFW

And might need some peace of mind, privacy, to do that perhaps?

Also, lurking, I saw him preparing a meal ‘with’ someone of keen interest. Looking him up he appears to be what I’d call good company.

These are not back to you, Julia, for comment, just posting is all.

The link for HK crew casting is not new. They’ve been taking resumes for several months now. I’m still waiting for the extras call, and have been planning a little vacation in NOLA around it. Filming is supposed to be July 15th thru Sept. 15.
And his appearance at Game, was part of an event of some kind. Lots of celebs there. The man in the gray suit walking beside him looks like security. If he had been “anyone”, the paps would not have cropped the photo. A limo driver would not have left his vehicle. I wonder why he didn’t dress nicer?

  • glenn

He desperately needs this time alone . He gets to see people and have fun instead of following MB like a puppy dog all day long.

  • Sunkist.cz

She is supposed to have flown back to LA last weekend.

  • haremgirl

Hey Mr. Butler! Thanks for letting us see you! I wish we could all go out with you, I really do!

  • http://rememberingthedesireisprivate.blogspot.com/ GFW

Maybe it was a last minute decision? Didn’t bring any dressier clothing? What’s wrong with how he’s dressed? How do you know it was an “event”?

That said, the best name for a club ever.

  • Julia

Lol, just to give us a ray of hope, an interview with Ross King about rom com but that might include any comedy. btw I loved The Ugly Truth

“Even though he’s known for his action-packed roles, Butler has also appeared in some popular rom-coms, including ‘P.S. I Love You’ and ‘The Ugly Truth’, but does he intend to make another one?

“You have a very rough plan, but you don’t have a real awareness of what’s around the corner,” he revealed. “If a really great rom-com came my way then maybe I would venture into it again, but I need to be really excited again to do another one.”

    Good riddance !!

  • glenn

British productions (TV, movie, theatre) are also great to star in. Bradley Cooper does it too. Gerard’s agent should look into it. Not sure why GB hasn’t done it in so many years…Personally I’d like to see him starring in a British movie or TV series. Let’s hope he is looking into Broadway roles while in NY. I am sure he will have a big success.

  • Ause Ekel

He seems great, good for him!

  • http://rememberingthedesireisprivate.blogspot.com/ GFW

He could be the kind who doesn’t want anything long-term? The commitment to a series, that might get hugely popular if it stared him, could be a deterrent?

He’s said himself, and I’ll leave it to others to find links, he’s more into movies than “TV”. He is very self-aware so knows its challenges and drawbacks.

Saying that, people have made the suggestion many times. I think he’d love it.

  • Sunkist.cz

The other celebs there were dressed for a club party, not shopping at Home Depot. He could have put a dress shirt on, decent shoes, and nice slacks. It’s like he’s not even trying anymore. The Hollandse site has more pics and descriptions.

  • Sunkist.cz

She’s only physically gone, don’t kid yourself. He’s on best behavior.

  • http://rememberingthedesireisprivate.blogspot.com/ GFW

I don’t know where you find all you do. All I see at the Holland site is:

“New York, NY – Gerard Butler joins friends for a fun night out at ‘Game’ nightspot in Manhattan. The ’300′ star went casual in a leather jacket over a grey American flag graphic tee and a pair of jeans.”

It’s a night spot! I think to him he is dressed, if you follow me. And considering jeans, shirt, and polished shoes were what he wore to the show and out to dinner, this is acceptable for a club in my book.

He seems to disappoint you so much?

  • Nicole

I just wished her a happy journey! LOL

  • Ismellarat

Don’t be surprised if he’s back in L.A. by the weekend. The leash has just been loosened a little.

  • http://rememberingthedesireisprivate.blogspot.com/ GFW

    Whatever, whatever.

Saying that, I think referring to Gerry as a dog on a leash is offensive.

He’s apparently in town for work somehow. It won’t last long. Sad, but it is what it is.

  • Nicole

Gerry on a leash ??? Ha! This is something new!

  • Sunkist.cz

Yes, in interviews he has scoffed at “going back” to doing anything but movies now. It is a prestige thing to many in HW. But I think it would expand his fan base, as many people do not go see violent films, or badly reviewed rom-com’s. I actually think Gerard is much better suited to television. His style of acting depends on close-ups to really appreciate the thoughts and emotions he expresses so beautifully, and subtly in his face and with his eyes. It turns into over acting on the big screen, case in point MGP. That would have been such a Good movie, with a better director.

  • http://rememberingthedesireisprivate.blogspot.com/ GFW

Nice post. That said, so many of his peers and contemporaries have taken the plunge. I think you’re right, the “going back” phrase caught me off guard when I heard it, as The Jury, Attila, Mrs Brown are finely acted pieces that warranted his current successes. He seems to look down on “TV” yet watches so much of it himself?

I’d like to see him try it with a guest appearance, where he only shows up every now and then, as “Special Guest Gerard Butler”, you know? But he seems hellbent on remaining a movie star.

Good point about expanding his fan base. More and more are staying home streaming.

“Nothing splendid is ever achieved except by those who dared to believe that something inside them was superior to circumstance.”

  • Sunkist.cz

Could you imagine ‘The Jury’ without Gerard’s emotional close-ups? I really believe this is a major issue with his films now. He has lost “touch”, a real personal emotional connection to each audience member. His action films tell you what you should feel, instead of letting you discover it for yourself.

  • Gossipbasher

I can’t. There is a very good cast in The Jury but The Jury without Gerry as Johnny wouldn’t have been the same.

  • Sunkist.cz

His sensitivity is a Gift. His ability to share that on screen is a true and amazing talent. One reviewer said of him in OHF, that he was a “caricature”, as in two dimensional. What a terrible waste.

  • http://rememberingthedesireisprivate.blogspot.com/ GFW

“His action films tell you what you should feel, instead of letting you discover it for yourself.”

Which is what BBC and the series do. Characters build over time, they develop the story and if he didn’t like it, they could always find an out for his character. I think he’s missing an opportunity. Then again, his being in NYC sparks the off Broadway play hopeful spark, but would that be “going back” as well? He’s hard to read these days, which I think is what he wants. And frankly, all things considered, can’t say I blame him.

  • http://rememberingthedesireisprivate.blogspot.com/ GFW

Not as far as putting bucks in the bank though. I’m sure he made a lot of money just from Gods of Egypt alone. That was a $150M budget. He seemed pretty full of himself down under, guess money rules the roost now?

  • Gossipbasher

Oh! Now you don’t like her anymore? I thought you were her biggest fan and preferred to MG?

  • Sunkist.cz

He seems to me like a watertight, but rudderless ship in the eye of a hurricane.

  • http://rememberingthedesireisprivate.blogspot.com/ GFW

He touched every nerve in my body in The Jury. Unforgettable.

My sense of fairness. Addictions we all struggle with. Failing, rebuilding, stumbling, choices. Sponsor wisdom. Trusting himself, listening to triggers then avoiding them after relapsing. Acting on them; ignoring them. Moving on. Moving up. Love growth aches. His ability to command respect as the lead of the jury.

  • http://rememberingthedesireisprivate.blogspot.com/ GFW

No one’s airtight. Ships all have captains. Hurricane’s dissipate. Hope remains. Sun is the brightest after storms.

One can pick up and rebuild from what’s left making a stronger ship for the next time, and they’re always a next time.

  • Gossipbasher

If he now allows a woman to dictate how he should live, who he should talk, who he should not see and where not to go, then it’s sad. He needs an intervention then and she needs some therapy. When you love somebody, you do not choke them to death by being possessive and not allowing them space to breath. I think he can find somebody more mature, more confident who would let him live and do his work and still be at his side. Choking somebody to death by being possessive of them is not love, it’s obsession and one main factor of love is to trust the one you love. If she cannot trust him to make the right choices when she’s no there, then maybe she should have a go at dating a lifeguard for a change as then she would know where her BF is at all times.

  • Sunkist.cz

That’s probably a backend deal. He’s not in the $12mil bracket any more. The producers just want to make money, and couldn’t really care less about Gerard. The second his films start losing money, the big budget ones, they’ll replace him in a heart beat with Jeremy Renner, for less money. Waste, waste, waste!!

  • http://rememberingthedesireisprivate.blogspot.com/ GFW

I wouldn’t be so sure about that. Jeremy’s been in some flops himself. Right now Hollywood isn’t producing anything truly remarkable. When I can’t find anything to see in the theaters, they’re in trouble. They are.

He has a chance with three very diverse films to show ‘them’ what he’s worth, money pun intended.

Interstellar bombed and that had Matthew McConaughey in it.

It might not appeal to everyone, but it is timely. Weather is the last great frontier.

  • https://twitter.com/pamela_swain Pamela

Interstellar didn’t necessarily bomb. I’ll be looking for one thing that will make or break that movie.

  • http://rememberingthedesireisprivate.blogspot.com/ GFW

I stand corrected. I guess seeing it at Amazon.com so soon after its release could just be the new trend.

It did okay for 4 weeks then trickled.

    Did you see it?
    I didn’t think so.

GB is in a different place other than MM. And knock off the attitude. Gerry should listen to Myles Kennedy’s music particularly AB 3 from Alter Bridge. Mylesy is deep. He writes music that is vulnerable yet very masculine. <—–which is what I need to see when Gerry acts.
Myles also has a classic trained voice. He's a VERY nice guy…Too nice, in my opinion, but that's his special quality. He knows how to reach people in his music. If I could pick a best friend for Gerard, it would be him. Myles has helped me tremendously.

  • Sunkist.cz

Actually, I think this is part of an intervention. IMO, Justinian Carroll was put in charge of cleaning up Gerard. No more bad stuff alone, no more bad friends, no more clubbing, no more randoms,(cough, cough). Morgan was “selected” from JC’s associates, and is there to keep him on the straight and narrow, at least image wise, and groping pics not withstanding. I think he was given an ultimatum 2 years ago, to clean up his act, or lose his backing. He’s actually tried to comply. And I think Morgan genuinely cares for him. How could she not? But I definitely get the sense this has big business behind it. Maybe the deal is for a few years, they milk the cash cow dry, and Gerard “retires”. He just definitely does not look happy -as in Ever. Amused, flattered, friendly, acting for the cameras, but never truly HAPPY any more. It shows in every part of his being.
