Hugh Jackman Explains How Jerry Seinfeld Made Him Quit Wolverine

Hugh Jackman is suave while heading to an appearance on Live! With Kelly & Michael at ABC Studios on Tuesday (June 9) in New York City.

On the show, the 46-year-old Australian actor chatted about how Jerry Seinfeld influenced his decision to retire as Wolverine after the upcoming X-Men movie.

“I was having a chat with him about a year ago at his birthday and he was talking about why he finished [Seinfeld] and how it was riding high, and he said he just always had this feeling or belief that you never know when either your energy or the audience’s energy is going to dip over and people are like, ‘Please! Go!’” Hugh shared.

He added, “I’ve been doing it for 17 years, I love it. I think the movies are getting better. And all of the sudden, as he was talking to me, I went, ‘This is it.’” Watch the video below!

Earlier in the day, Hugh showed off his muscles while enjoying a jog in the Big Apple.

Really Jackman? Wolverine has been his bread & butter.. Everything else he’s done has been mediocre to me..

Really vanitysecurity? Just mediocre actors can eat bread and butter forever and Jackman is anything but mediocre, on the contrary, he’s one of the most talented (and underestimated) actors of his generation, extremely versatile and perfectly comfortable in any role, on the silver screen, as live on a theater stage. His first Academy Award nomination has not arrived due to Wolverine, he did not win a Golden Globe due to Wolverine. Seeing him perform in movies like Prisoners, anyone (who is not an idiot incompetent) could see that he wasted too much time to drown in this type of “bread & butter”. Fortunately, he finally understood that his career should go in the opposite way. He’s not The Rock or Vin Diesel, Jackman managed to ennoble even some of the movies less convincing that he did, and this is a fact that only blind or idiots are determined not to recognize.

dude.. unclench ..I was talking about success in the box office..

Thank God the world of cinema, the real one, does not consist exclusively in films like the superhero genre, toy-movies made just for pimply teenagers lobotomized by videogames. Thank God not only pimply teenagers go to the movies, who appreciate good movies and good acting does not fatten the box office, they focused on quality. The pleasure to finally see an actor like Jackman really play and not only roaring showing his muscles, worth a thousand times more than any box office data collection. Now he can afford to finally show what he can really do and we have not yet seen his potential as an actor expressed to 100%, just because of too much time lost with that “bread and butter”. Now he has the opportunity to choose among many interesting and varied screenplays that are raining down on his desk. He’s grateful to Wolverine, but he can not be Wolverine forever.
