Meghan McCain Urges Republicans to Support Same-Sex Marriage

Meghan McCain is urging Republicans to support marriage equality after the Supreme Court of the United States ruled that bans on same-sex marriage are unconstitutional.

“Republicans have to move on from this, or become relics,” the daughter of 2008 Republican presidential nominee John McCain said (via Variety).

“The GOP’s nominee in 2016 has to support this ruling,” Meghan continued. “I think any anti-equality rhetoric will be lethal. We live in a world now where the reaction to Caitlyn Jenner is overwhelmingly positive and loving and accepting. I’ve said this before, but [Mike] Huckabee is one of the great imbeciles of American politics.”

“I never wanted to live in an America where there are different rights for different citizens depending on who you love,” Meghan added. “Even at a young age, I could never get the logic of that. When I tell my grandkids this story and tell them that in the past it wasn’t legal for gay people to get married, I think it’ll sound insane and unbelievable.”
