George Clooney Pays Tribute to the Late Jerry Weintraub

George Clooney just paid tribute to the late Jerry Weintraub, who passed away today at the age of 77.

“In the coming days there will be tributes, about our friend Jerry Weintraub. We’ll laugh at his great stories, and applaud his accomplishments. And in the years to come the stories and accomplishments will get better with age, just as Jerry would have wanted it. But not today. Today our friend died,” George said in a statement (via THR). “To his family and friends, Amal and I send our love. And to those who didn’t know him we send our deepest sympathy. You would have loved him.”

Jerry produced the Ocean’s Eleven movies, which starred George, Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, and more. Our thoughts are with Jerry‘s loved ones during this time.

“Amal and I send our love.” REALLY, GEORGE? You’ve reached a new low. What a complete and utter asshole you are. There is no you and Amal, never has been and never will be. You would even desecrate a man’s death with your lies?

  • lurkerette

Fuck you, George. Fuck you for shitting all over a man on the day of his death. Just shut the fuck up already. Why would you use a man’s death to promote a lie? Unless you actually hated the man, is the only explanation.

I had not heard this, may he RIP. Loved his movies, even drove out of my way several times to see ones that were playing in limited release.

sadly what chiefly exists in the bulk of hollywoodland is a mass of not very admirable people. OR at least not the kind of individuals that any intelligent person would choose to admire or look up to as notable or particularly fine in character. Weintraub and Clooney are not nor have ever been of the finest ilk….. certainly not people that individuals of better quality would wish to be around or model themselves after. A sad commentary on a society that admonishes praise to people of such minimal, clearly trashy and substandard life choices. We should be ashamed of ourselves to even offer media features on them, or give press time to. Shame on all of us

George looks like they just dug him up from an ancient Egyptian Tomb here.

    RIP Jerry.

My first thoughts on the GC message were something like yours (although not as strongly worded). Now I prefer to think that he did not write the message himself. If he did however give the final approval before it was released, I hope that he was still under the influence of his “quiet” 4th of July celebration and did not think it through properly. But then again, “the show must go on !” – don’t let it bother you so much, you’ll give yourself an ulcer ;)

I hadn’t realized she knew him.

    Shameless plug for Amal.
