'Minions' is Second-Biggest Opening Ever for Animated Film

Minions takes the No. 1 spot at the box office this weekend with a whopping $115.2 million debut!

According to THR, the animated flick, starring the voices of Sandra Bullock and Jon Hamm, scored another $124.3 million overseas too, bringing its global total to $395.7 million.

The movie boasts the the second-biggest opening ever for an animated movie, behind Shrek the Third ($122.5 million).

Jurassic World, starring Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard, came in second in its fifth weekend with $18.1 million, for a domestic total of $590.7 million so far.

Taking the third spot was Disney and Pixar’s Inside Out, which made an additional $17.1 million for a U.S. total of $283.6 million.

Rounding out the top five were Terminator: Genisys and horror film The Gallows, earning $13.7 million and $10 million, respectively.

Meanwhile, Ryan Reynolds‘ new flick Self/less debuted to $5.4 million and Magic Mike XXL made an additional $9.6 million.
