Disney is Making a Live-Action 'Aladdin' Prequel!

Aladdin is making a comeback!

Disney is creating a live-action prequel to the 1992 classic film, according to THR.

Reportedly titled Genie, the film will be written by Damian Shannon and Mark Swift. It will “focus on the realm of the Genies and tell how that one Genie ended up enslaved in the lamp.”

In case you don’t already know, Aladdin follows a street urchin who vies for the love of a beautiful princess, and uses a genie’s magic power to make himself off as a prince in order to marry her.

While the movie is still in the early stages, the ultimate goal is to lead into an Aladdin live-action movie too.

Also, later this year, the Blu-Ray HD rerelease of the animated classic, Aladdin, will also hit shelves in mid October!

Seriously, now that Robin’s gone? It’s very unlikely that he’d do it even if he was alive because of his problems with Disney, but still, no once could fill his shoes.

Sorry but no. Can’t picture any voice other than Robin’s as Genie. Robin as Genie was a masterclass in voiceover acting and everyone in the world fell in love with his role. Pathetic. Disney is scraping the barrel with this. None of these live action movies should be happening. They will never match or go above the revenue that was brought in with the childhood classic animated movies. This is just financial maintenance to keep Disney rich which is sad. They really ran out of ideas, shame.

I wonder what white man they will find to play Aladdin.

And white girl for Jasmine… The LOLs

  • Barry

The “genie mythology” gives them the possibility to present a younger version of the character…
And doing so, avoid the fact that Robin Williams was THE voice.

I understand but Idk how anyone can support a live action Aladdin movie. It really doesn’t matter if they’ll use someone younger, they’re making the young generation of this time see a watered down version of a beautiful classic. Whoever got to see the authentic Aladdin had it the best, whoever got to embrace and enjoy the animated Disney classics will have the best childhood memories, not this generation no matter how many live actions get pumped out from the Disney machine. Don’t even get me started on the live action version of Beauty and the Beast, that’s another shitfest coming soon to theaters.

Oh shut the fuck up, everyone thinks their childhood was the best.
