Ed Sheeran Clarifies His Taylor Swift/Nicki Minaj Comments: 'I Definitely Said It Wrong'

Ed Sheeran has taken to Twitter to clarify the comments he made concerning the rift between Taylor Swift and Nicki Minaj.

“that’s taken out of context and not what I was saying was redundant at all” Ed, 24, wrote to Buzzfeed UK after they published an article with his comments that Nicki‘s argument was “redundant.”

“I was making a point about body image and not race, whilst sticking up for a mate, I definitely said it wrong though, apologies,” Ed added.

Later, after Taylor apologized, a fan tweeted at Ed, “Look @edsheeran, your friend is admitting she was wrong. Time for you to admit you missed the point,” to which Ed responded, “I’m very aware that I missed the point.”

Nicki fully explained what her VMA tweets meant on her Instagram.

Sometimes it’s just best to keep your opinions to yourself. Let them work it out. They’re adults.

I honestly could care less what Swift & Minaj or Sheeran think about anything.. we as a society place way too much value on the opinions of these people that are not like the rest of us. They are celebs that lead a very different life than us. So yeah they all should just stfu and make music.

Racism is not something that needs to be brushed under the rug.

Whose brushing racism under the rug? Even if Nicki had a point (which she doesn’t because Beyoncé was nominated and she is black and curvy) hers would be first class problems. She says she is not winning an award because of racism. Where other people are getting arrested and KILLED because of their skin. It is hard to compare the two. One is serious and the other is superficial. lacroix has a point. None of these people are what I call intellectuals or real leaders of the community. I would rather hear from someone more respected and not one who shakes her a$$ for money.

I’m hoping by tomorrow, this fight will have died and will stay dead. The most important thing is that Taylor said sorry (not the faux “I apologize” crap) and Nicki accepted. The media is creating a mushroom cloud out of less than 140 characters. Perhaps a silver lining is that maybe Taylor’s album got boosted a bit in sales and a few more people watched “Anaconda” to see what all the fuss is about.

    thats her intention :)

Lol. White people love to bring up Beyonce as proof that racial inequality doesn’t exist. She’s the go-to token black girl that fills some sort of racial quota that allows them to sleep guilt-free at night.

So the popular girl at the moment (TS if you were confused) was flying high at the moment and thought she could say whatever she wanted and people would think those words were dipped in gold. Then foot in mouth syndrome happened. I guess not everyone is willing to bow and concede how smart she is only one day after she opened her mouth.

    AMEN!

  • Aoedele

Brushing myself under the rug? LOL.

  • Aoedele

Her point has been proven by the ridiculous comments on this very board. One has to be a leader to have an opinion that racism is an ugly disease in this world? And because she’s an entertainer that “shakes her butt” she’s not worthy of said opinion?
