Zac Efron Takes a Shower in New 'We Are Your Friends' Trailer

Zac Efron shows off his toned biceps while washing off in the shower in the trailer for his upcoming movie We Are Your Friends.

The movie is set in the world of electronic music and Hollywood nightlife. It follows an aspiring 23-year-old DJ named Cole (Efron), who spends his days scheming with his childhood friends and his nights working on the one track that will set the world on fire. All of this changes when he meets a charismatic but damaged older DJ named James (Wes Bentley), who takes him under his wing. Things get complicated, however, when Cole starts falling for James’ much younger girlfriend, Sophie (Emily Ratajkowski). With Cole’s forbidden relationship intensifying and his friendships unraveling, he must choose between love, loyalty, and the future he is destined for.

We Are Your Friends, which hits theaters on August 28, is the feature film directorial debut of MTV’s Catfish star Max Joseph.

Great actor, but he make horrible choices of movies to be in.

  • Jenny from the flop

    his face is so punchable

  • OK

Zac really looks great here. The movie really looks interesting.

Taking a shower will not wash the coke from showing on your drug test tomorrow Zac. Nice try though.

  • SERIOUSLY

Super excited to see more of Zac in this movie! Looking good, both the movie and Zac! ;) LOVING the second trailer as well! Well done!

  • IMO

Well done on the trailer, I think it nailed it for the target audience and it drums up interest to those who don’t know much about the genre of music. I don’t care for you focus on just the shower scene, after viewing it’s so much more than Zac and his abs, you know if you look closer he really has talent. At least you kept it professional and not about his dating life. Thanks for that. excited for Zac and all involved on the film.

  • IMO

    Agree 100%

  • IMO

Wishing him much success on this one, I want this one to hit, it will open more doors for bigger better things.

  • OK

    Totally agree with you.

  • OK

One of your best posts. They are always overlooking his talent.
He has talent he has proven it many times but it is hardly ever mentioned.

  • Just My PO

I think this additional trailer showcases the film a lot better. I really hope this project does well for Max, the cast and all the talented individuals involved.

  • Just My PO

    Completely agree!
He has oodles of talent unfortunately this has been overshadowed by the series of shirtless scenes/nudity in quite a few of his recent projects. Not complaining by any means, he’s a gorgeous guy but his talent far exceeds his looks. His personality far exceeds his looks and his kindness far exceeds his looks. He’s the complete package but we live in shallow times ;) and abs get web hits!
Side note: I would like to see him revisit the indy route. Passion driven projects with low budgets but rich story lines.

  • IMO

I agree about the Indy films I think my favorite performances are the Paperboy and At Any Price I agree no one can complain about his looks but actors in the past that have been respected and were gorgeous just focused on if the part and if the character needed to be shirtless or nude. If it was storylined driven and in that it was a bonus for the audience. But you are right about the living in the shallow times but it’s also up to the actor and his PR team to not push it and hold back a little. A little mystery is also good and when they give us a glimpse it’s
    because they were acting. LOL

  • IMO

    I agree and thanks.

Like anything if you do it too much it’s what you become reknown for.
Matt Mc and rom-coms for example. Took him quite a long time for people to get past the eye candy factor and recognize there was talent there. After that he snagged some pretty cool indy roles (eg Mud, Dallas Buyers Club) and sure he did Magic Mike but that was on his own terms, he’s now in a position where he can do the big budget no brainer projects if he wants to because there are still other decent scripts coming across his agents desk.
I’m hoping it won’t take that long for Z, he’s young, he’s got a long way to go.
I also loved his performances in AAP and The Paperboy also. Good, solid, character roles. He truly shone and was stand out in those parts.

  • IMO

That is a perfect example using matthew but funny thing is Zac knew that and sort of dissed Matthew when he was at the height of his popularity with HSM and Hairspray. In his infamous Rolling Stone
cover story he talks about not wanting to be famous for taking off his shirt like Matthew. Flash forward to him working with Matthew who had totally changed his image and went on to get that respect . Young Zac knew the game I guess he just succumbed to the if you can’t beat them join them state of mind. He will have to work twice as hard though I fear or he will have to make millions for studios to be able to bargain for control of what kind of roles he will be offered.

  • Just My PO

Ahh ok that’s interesting, I didn’t know this. I hadn’t read that interview. He certainly did seem to have his head screwed on right when he was younger.
I think you’re right though sometimes people just cave as opposed to going against the flow. It’s exhausting otherwise so they just give in. It’s better he book work than not at all but I would love to see him snag a few more Indy projects :)

  • IMO

I agree but I think we all know that if his films make money then he gets power. Then with that power he can still make the films the studio asks for but , then he will have the clout to ask for better more respectable films. At least they will give him that chance . In turn he can have the shot at more important dramatic films including the all important Indies which seem to win the respect and are the critics choice these days. JMO

  • Just My PO

I agree and this is pretty much how it works.

  • IMO

;) Hoping some rumors I’m hearing about are true. I will keep you posted if anything comes of it.

  • Just My PO

    Excellent ;) Thankin’ Ya!
Are things maybe unfolding like I said they would?!

  • IMO

I think so, little set back today but we have to consider that in that interview they were speaking about a Tweet that happened several weeks ago . The term Gf is loosely used as a matter of what the person is known for and part of a everyday vocabulary and it was truthful in the context of the timeline. He can’t very well say Gf at the time , it would open all kinds of worms. On the other hand filming is done and all will be revealed when he lands here in LA. I am hopeful since there has been an obvious change in his Social media . so if it doesn’t go the way we would like at least we won’t have to be subjected to cornball moves of juvenile pics, likes and words of dedication which seemed to have slowed down and stopped these past few weeks. I’d like to think at the very least very least your reminder of his 2009 words of wisdom shamed him into doing something about the way he has presented this fakery.

  • Just My PO

I did wonder about the timeframe around that little setback.
Hoping for the best but not holding my breath.
I would like to think that quote reached him in some way too!
The fakery served its purpose, time to wrap it up and move on.
Fingers, toes and legs crossed right now ;)

  • IMO

I agree and even though the interview took place last week it did put a damper on hopes for an end insight. it has served it’s purpose so if this fakery continues we have to assume it is his choice. It will be sad but as you said hoping for the best but not holding a breath is the way to go forward. At this point there is no other thing to do but wait and see what happens next. ;)

  • Just My PO

Will be calling out the fakery louder than ever IF it does continue. That’s a given! ;)
