'The Wiz Live!' Finds Its Dorothy: Shanice Williams! (Video)

The Wiz Live! has just announced the young star who will take on the iconic role of Dorothy – newcomer Shanice Williams!

The big casting news was announced on Wednesday (August 5), bright and early on the Today show.

Shanice‘s big news is not the only casting announcement that was recently made for the upcoming live NBC musical. Tony Award nominee David Alan Grier will be playing the Cowardly Lion!

Queen Latifah and Mary J. Blige also recently joined the cast.

The Wiz Live! is set to debut on NBC on December 3. Watch a video of Shanice‘s audition from the open call in New York City!
