Benedict Cumberbatch Asks Fans Not to Use Phones During His 'Hamlet' Performance (Video)

Benedict Cumberbatch hurries outside to catch a ride home after leaving the Groucho Club on Friday night (August 7) in London, England.

The 39-year-old actor just began his 12-week run in Hamlet at the Barbican Centre.

After a recent performance, Benedict went outside to ask fans not to use their phones during the show.

“I can’t give you what I want to give you which is a live performance that you’ll remember, hopefully, in your minds and brains whether it’s good, bad or indifferent, rather than on your phones,” he said.

He added, “It may not be any of you here but it’s blindingly obvious…There’s nothing that’s less enjoyable or supportive as an actor on stage experiencing that.”

Where is courtesy toward living breathing people who are trying to give you a performance. People shouldn’t have to be told that this is rude.

he is a big shot now ;)
two years ago we had no clue who is he,now look …
he shouldn’t be saying this to those people, its indeed rude.
However,if he doesn’t like it he may make an announcement before his show and hope people understand him and are supportive …

Been a horrid week with large media outlets reviewing a first previews and now this. It’s inconsiderate. These are difficult tickets to get, they cost a fortune and people are idiotic enough to sit in the theatre and watch it through their phone. They’re having to restart the show, it ruins it for everyone else. Just turn your fking phone off for 3 hours, sit there and enjoy what is going to be a truly great performance. Experience something without documenting it for once.
