Aurora Theater Shooter Formally Sentenced to Life in Prison Without Parole

Aurora movie theater shooter James Holmes was formally sentenced to life in prison by a judge on Wednesday (August 26) in Centennial, Colo.

The 27-year-old former neuroscience graduate student was given life in prison without parole for the murders of 12 people, as well as 3,200 additional years for attempted murder and explosives convictions.

“The defendant will never be a free man again, ever,” Judge Carlos Samour Jr. said in the courtroom. “The place of death, generally speaking, has been determined. The only question that remains unanswered is the time of death.”

James Holmes opened gunfire in a deadly attack on a packed midnight showing of The Dark Knight Rises back in 2012.

Our thoughts are still with all of those affected by this horrible tragedy.
