Lea Michele Talks Finding Love Again After Cory Monteith's Death (Exclusive)

Lea Michele takes the cover of Flare magazine’s October 2015 issue, which was provided exclusively to JustJared.com.

Here’s what the 28-year-old Scream Queens actress had to share with the mag:

On finding love again after Cory Monteith‘s death: “I wanted to make sure that I was okay with me, feeling strong and feeling happy on my own. I didn’t want anybody to fill any holes for me—that sounds sexual! I wanted to make sure that I was a whole person again and that no one was coming into my life to put me back together. I needed to do that on my own. I worked very, very, very hard and I got back to that place where I was genuinely happy and strong and ready to live again and see the world and, you know, bring in more beautiful experiences. And that’s when someone miraculously came into my life.”

On her BFF Emma Roberts: “Emma speaks up for herself, she stands up for herself, she takes care of herself, and those are the kinds of girls I want to be around.”

On triumphing over haters: “I’m so proud of my success. I’m really proud of the life I’ve built and created for myself. I’ve kept my head on my shoulders to get to where I am. You’re always going to run into critics. The only people I care about are the people that are close to me. It’s a tough business, it’s a tough town, and you really have to have a thick skin. I’m constantly learning, but I’m really proud of where I am.”

The full interview is available now on Flare.com, and will be available on Next Issue on September 1 and on newsstands September 14.

Oh look “Guest” gets to be the first ahole of the day. Your obsession with his past life is so odd why do you even care?

  • smooshy

    again with the dead boyfriend?

  • brutallyhonest

She is going to milk Corey’s death for as long as she can.

  • Sanna Leena

That’s the only thing people remember of her, the rest is just not interesting. So she has to talk about him again. I’m just wondering what success she’s talking about…

  • Jessie Bower

Your “paid” escort boyfriend just came into your life. BWAAAAHAHAH

  • Nikki

Unless I missed something then I’m pretty sure she was asked the question by the interviewer and answered. I don’t see how she is milking his death, the loss of a loved one is something you never get over and I don’t know about you but I’m still going to talk about that person for the rest of my life. Perhaps you don’t care enough about anyone other than yourself to continue to talk about and remember them years after they are gone.

  • WhatWhat

Yeah it’s not like she’s not a critically acclaimed award winning, commercially successful actress. What success could she be talking about. You bitter losers are just hilarious now.

  • WhatWhat

She looks really great on that cover.

  • Broadzilla

She’s milked the PR relationship she had with Monteith for long enough.

  • iLoveMe

Is this no-talent still trying to profit off Corey’s death?

  • iLoveMe

That show made her, without the show her career is the equivalent of a insect under my shoe.

  • iLoveMe

Keanu Reeves, a very successful actor btw, has been surrounded by tragedy and losing loved ones too. I don’t see him, using such tragedy to keep himself relevant. It’s called privacy and respect.

  • WhatWhat

Without the show she would still be a critically acclaimed and successful Broadway actress. With the show she’s even more so and is appropriately grateful for it you blithering idiot. Just because you’re a garbage person doesn’t mean you need to project your obvious insecurities and overall worthlessness onto others. It won’t change the kind of trash person you are, it just makes it more obvious.

  • Cap

Ignore the idiots. They are just resentful losers who look for things to hate on. Lea had more success at 8 then they probably have ever had.

Oh the name calling and the “self-hating” stupidity and no real point in your statement at all. I’m gonna assume you’re 12. Let me educate you, the person accusing someone else of self-hating, is the one who really hates themselves. Why would I hate myself, because Lea Michele is talentless? You sound like a teenage fool, who is giving me advice from your mother or your therapist. Lea Michele would be done without Glee. She hasn’t done anything BIG on Broadway, that album she released was nowhere near a commercial success, or any success to be exact. Tell me where her success or critical acclaim is, outside of Glee. The only person that will still hire her is Ryan Murphy and from the looks of it his new series won’t make it past the first season. That’s why she’s using her ex’s death to keep herself relevant.

So save your self-hating rant, your school counselor gave you about bullies, for yourself.

  • WhatWhat

You’re so stupid and bitterly pathetic it’s actually hilarious. It’s like Fox News reality with you idiots. Get help and stop boring the rest of us with your delusional ranting. Shoo.

  • WhatWhat

Very true. Ever had and will ever had. Losers like that know they’re losers, that’s why they behave like morons on the internet in a desperate bid to boost their non-existent self-worth.

  • iLoveMe

Yep, the typical response from one who gets told about themselves. An idiot calling me stupid? LOL. There’s no ranting or delusions in there. Stay on your meds, buddy.
