Tyler Oakley Covers Seventeen Mag's Social Media Issue With Fellow YouTube Star Zoe Sugg

Tyler Oakley poses alongside Zoe Sugg (AKA Zoella) for the October 2015 Social Media Issue of Seventeen magazine, on newsstands September 15!

Here’s what the YouTube stars had to share with the mag:

Tyler on his eating disorder: “Talking about it is really hard because it’s something I suppress and work through every day. And I haven’t really talked about body image in videos. I assume when people read this, they’ll be like, ‘Oh, you’re not fat.’ That’s not what it’s about at all. Even when I was the skinniest I’d ever been, I was still not happy.”

Zoe on her struggle with anxiety: “A lot of young people look at me and think, She has the perfect life: She’s got the boyfriend, the house, the dog, the book, the successful YouTube channel. Not everything is perfect… Sometimes I have days where I don’t want to leave my bed, or I’ll have multiple panic attacks.”

On their friendship:
Zoe: “I instantly felt like we’d been mates forever, and you never feel like there’s any distance.”
Tyler: “She accepts people for who they are. She’s never questioned anything about me. I can just be me.”

Zoe = Typical privilege people. Even when they have everything, they still complain.

  • HelloImVikky

These comments are crap. Youtubers aren’t kids who grew up acting and grew up with fame. They’re mostly 20 some year olds who lived a normal childhood and had/ have the same issues lots of teens have and understand what it’s like to be your average teenager, they’re issues are real and there’s a number of youtubers who originally went to YouTube as some sort of way to just be themselves and not worry about they’re everyday issues. None of them did this thinking they would become famous, at least not most of them or anyone who had an account before say 2010

Don’t use queer as an insult it’s rude.

I see where you’re coming from but she isn’t complaining about a trivial thing, anxiety is a real issue people have to deal with that sometimes stops them from participating in one thing or another. It doesn’t matter if you’re prieliged or not.
