Jackie Collins Dead - Author Dies at 77
Famed author Jackie Collins passed away on Saturday (September 19) at her home in Beverly Hills, Calif.
The Santangelos novelist and sister of legendary actress Joan Collins, was 77 and had been suffering from breast cancer for the past six and a half years.
“It is with tremendous sadness that we announce the death of our beautiful, dynamic and one of a kind mother, Jackie Collins, who died of breast cancer today,” the Collins family told People.
“She lived a wonderfully full life and was adored by her family, friends and the millions of readers who she has been entertaining for over 4 decades. She was a true inspiration, a trail blazer for women in fiction and a creative force. She will live on through her characters but we already miss her beyond words.”
Since her cancer diagnosis, Jackie remained very private about her battle but in that time published five novels.
“Looking back, I’m not sorry about anything I did,” she said earlier this month in an interview with People.
The Collins family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be sent to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Organization in the U.S. and Penny Brohn Cancer Care in the U.K.
Our thoughts are with Jackie‘s family and friends during this difficult time.
