Lea Michele's 'Scream Queens' Character Gets a Makeover
Lea Michele‘s Scream Queens character is not exactly the ugly duckling anymore after getting a major makeover on the third episode of the series.
The 29-year-old actress previously said that the role of Hester Ulrich, who sported a neck brace in the first two episodes, was a role she could not say no to.
“Ryan [Murphy] is such a genius,” Lea told BuzzFeed. “He was really able to do exactly what I needed, which was to show people a completely different side of who I am and 100% erase — not that I want to erase Rachel Berry — but have people see me as someone else right out of the gate.”

“Once I started talking to Ryan about Hester, he let it slip that she’s going to get a makeover and she’s going to be the craziest of them all,” Lea told Variety. “That was like music to my ears. What I love more than anything is that it’s not that she gets a makeover, but that she’s still as weird. Here’s this girl who goes from wearing a neckbrace and being a complete misfit and outcast, but she’s still herself. She gets more weird and mysterious and crazy as the season goes on. This is the same girl — just in Chanel clothes!”
“I’m a cool kid! I’ve never been one of the cool kids before,” she added. “I have this awesome storyline with Glen Powell who is Emma’s boyfriend, Chad. It’s this very screwy love triangle. Hester’s a little obsessed with him. I get the scripts, and I’m like, I can’t believe I’m going to say this!”
