New 'Doctor Who' Young Adult Spinoff Coming to BBC Three

BBC just announced plans for a new Doctor Who spin off!

The upcoming series, called Class, was written by young adult author Patrick Ness.

The eight episode, 45 minute series will be set in contemporary London and will center on incredible dangers that are breaking through the walls of time and space, and with darkness coming, London is unprotected. Much of the action will be set around Coal Hill School.

“No one has documented the dark and exhilarating world of the teenager like Patrick Ness, and now we’re bringing his brilliant story-telling into Doctor Who,” Doctor Who showrunner Steven Moffat shared. “This is growing up in modern Britain – but with monsters!”

Production on Class begins next spring and the series will air before the end of 2016.
