Adele's '25' Album Sales On Track to Break All-Time Record

Adele‘s brand new album 25 is on track to do the impossible… break N’Sync‘s record for the most albums sold in one week!

After one day of release, Billboard is predicting that the album sells at least 2.5 million copies in the first week with the possibility of going even higher.

Adele‘s album sold a mind-blowing 900,000 copies just on iTunes in the first day of release.

N’Sync sold 2.416 million copies of their album No Strings Attached in the week ending March 26, 2000 and no album has reached that number since.

25 is also on track to become the best-selling album of the year in just one week. Taylor Swift‘s album 1989, which was released last October, has sold 1.74 million copies in this calendar year.

I would love it break “most good songs in one album” record but it don’t.

I didn’t buy Adele’s album. There are so many pretty English girls out there–Ella Henderson, Ellie Goulding & Rita Ora. Those girls eat properly, work out regularly and take pride in their appearance. Whenever I see Adele, all I can think of is there’s a lazy cow who smokes. tbh

  • Mapгapитa Бaбoвниковa

  • The Truth Hurts

You’re a fu*king idiot. You’re the kind of person that makes me sick. You’re a disgrace to women out there and people like you is why us females have eating disorder. For your information she has lost lots of weight since having her baby. She doesn’t need loser like you for her support anyone. In fact she would want such a moron as a fan. No one would

Listening to 25 right now! It is fantastic. In a musical era of auto-tune and overprocessed pop, Adele is a breath of fresh air.

  • C.R.

Adele is gorgeous. I believe she quit smoking but who can take your post seriously when you upvote yourself???

  • Legendary Trolly

Her and Taylor Swift are making a mockery of any record Mike Jackson and Elvis have EVER set or broken! Simply legendary!

  • Mz Linz

I love Taylor but, she doesn’t hold a candle to Adele

  • Legendary Trolly

As of right now, Adele is blowing her out of the water, but Taylor sold a million albums in one week, THREE times on THREE albums, in a row! First artist in history to ever do that! Lets see what Adele does on the next album!

  • Cory Clark

Interesting that you also posted this….

    “Kristi Madison a month ago

I find that people who rag on Kelly & Adele about their weight are usually terrible people and often single. That type of personality is why they are alone. They probably have never had a baby either.”

    You must be very lonely…

  • Cory Clark

Im a huge Taylor fan. I can’t even count how many times I’ve listened to 1989 from beginning to end but I’m sure that any albums Adele releases in the future are going to always been record breaking. Adele appeals to the masses because she has true artistry and that is what people focus on when it comes to her. Taylor is talented but unfortunately Taylor has made her personal life a major part of her public identity so the world is going to get tired of her in a few years. Her music will always sell well because she has true fans and she is a damn good writer and singer but Adele is about the music. There is no reason to speculate or think that Adele’s future albums won’t be just as huge.

  • Legendary Trolly

Adele may be a flash in the pan! She is talented, but how long as she been in the game? Taylor has been at it for a while now, and the fact that she puts personal things in her music makes it seem like a tell-all-book! I think it helps her and her music is great too! She knows harmony patterns, and catchy songs, great craft in her music! Adele is talented, but the product is not on par with Taylor! Right now, its just Adele’s moment! Taylor may have a Jay Z career, where she is relevant over time! She may be on top for years and years straight! While Adele may have a 50 cent career, where she is exploding at one big moment, but we have to see if she can keep it up! I havent listened to the album, but you cant rehash the same album over and over! Taylor did a concept album with 1989, where she changed her sound and mixed an 80′s vibe to it! Either way, time will tell!

  • Conte435

Adele songs are personal , they’re all about her love life that’s why the title of her albums are her age when she recorded them, I ‘v actually seen her live and she going into detail about the songs before sings them.

The only difference is Adele never dated anyone famous and public doesn’t care about her personal life.

  • Ashkan Nouri

you must be kidding, any record that MJ broke? you know how many records MJ broke in his lifetime??

  • Bashar Murad
  • Legendary Trolly

Yea he broke some records but I dont think he sold a million in one week consecutively on three albums straight!

  • Ashkan Nouri

may be true, but your original post stated this: “mockery of any record Mike Jackson and Elvis have EVER set or broken” . so on that matter, i have to strongly disagree with you. if Adele sells alot of albums in its first week, that does NOT take away for all records MJ OR Elvise broke. MJ broke racial barriers, and has broken so many records that Adele can NOT touch. Yeah sure she might have broken a record here and there.. still does not take away what MJ has done for the music business.

  • Ashkan Nouri

besides, you must be trolling.. because you can also say: MJ is making a mockery of EVERY artist dead or alive. still to this day he breaks records here and there.

  • chris metivier

oh gosh are you kidding me, adele has already sold more albums than taylor swift’s combined worldwide.

  • Legendary Trolly

I dont know all of their stats, but Taylor has been doing it a little longer!

  • Legendary Trolly

I mean I can agree with that! But I was just pointing out that we have artists in our era, who are doing Elvis, and Mike Jackson types of things! Taylor and Adele or at an Elvis level right now! If anything, they are all in about the same league right now!

  • Legendary Trolly

I can kind of agree with this! Im not taking away from MJ because he’s a legend that did it his whole life! While they are young and still in their prime! But each legend has done things that no one else has done! MJ sold the most albums of all time, while Taylor is the only artist to consecutively sale a million in one week in 3 separate albums! Adele has sold the most albums in one week, in history! So they all have achieved different things!

  • Jaye

Are you serious? He was selling a million copies of Thriller per week at it’s peak in the US alone. Sure the market is different now but if it’s one thing Adele has shown, it’s that music can still be created and appreciated on a level where it sells/has longevity like albums did in before the 2000s. All without the big hype/media machine that is generally associated with a Swift release. Add the fact they’re polar opposite as performers and Adele does stand out from the rest.

  • Legendary Trolly

I dont know if Longjevity is the right word to use for Adele, she’s only a few albums in but we have to see over time! I wasnt alive back when Thriller was doing its thang so I cant speak too much on that!

  • Jaye

Longevity of an album if it wasn’t clear already. I was referring to 21 and it’s dominance for 2 years which is something akin to albums such as Thriller from when albums actually sold well. The market is saturated in music now (especially with digital and streaming) which is great for talented folks, but the mainstream music is further saturated with very under-talented or below-average music which A) we’ve allowed to happen by consuming it (not even purchasing it) which in turn has B) depreciated the way we value music. Props to Swift for pointing this out, even if she’s no worst off due to it considering endorsements etc. that make her a businesswoman rather than musician.

  • Mz Linz

    You heard of Thriller right?

  • gaysiantwink

Adele’s been around since 2008 when she released 19. She won 2 grammies for her debut album. Her follow-up album 21, won SEVEN grammys, including album of the year. You seem like you’re young and don’t understand just how big Adele is.

  • BaBaLu

    So do you.

  • Brandon Y

MJ did not sell the most albums of all time. The Beatles have the highest album sales of any artist, followed by Elvis. Also, in the 80′s there was not way to measure how many albums an artist sold in a week because that was before Neilsen Soundscan began scanning albums in 1991 when a barcode was scanned. Before, albums were just sold in shipments and that was the only way to measure how many albums someone sold then.

  • Brandon Y

MJ never sold close to a million in a week. If he did, there is no way of knowing. By the time we could count how many single units an artist sold, he was going through hard times with his court proceedings and had lost his selling power.

  • Legendary Trolly

Im allot younger than you, but all in all you get my point I get yours!

  • Legendary Trolly

Im 29, but I dont listen to none of these artist!

  • Legendary Trolly

Thriller broke records, but soundscan wasnt around back then so we dont know how many albums it sold in one week!

  • Legendary Trolly

No she’s a music genius! We not go sit up here and tell that lie! She is so talented and an exceptional songwriter! Gotta give props!

  • brennan scotland

what are you talking about, eminem did that 7 times in a row.

  • Legendary Trolly

Eminem never sold numbers like that dude! If he did, then we have to put him up their with MJ and Elvis too! Im going to go on wiki right now to see!

  • Duante Amorculo

My Rating of the Album and EACH song is seen below. Songs marked with *** are songs i think could be potential singles. Like niyla the album on a whole was not AS EPIC as ’21′ and I think the potential singles may not be as strong as ’21”s three #1s, but overall, still a great album which overall i give 8.5/10.

I think person’s saying the album it’s ‘overrated’ are entitled to their opinions but unlike them I won’t compare it to ’21′ to rate it, I rate it as a stand-alone album. Rating ’25′ by comparing it to ’21′ does a disservice to ’25′ as ’21′ is arguably a legendary album and it’s unfair and unreasonable to expect ’25′ to be just as good. though it’s natural to compare, as I even compared, i made sure not to judge the album based on how much it came close to the quality of ’21′ and i
hope others won’t either. listen to ’25′ with your mind clear and then reassess whether you still think it’s overrated.

    1. Hello – 10/10 ***

    2. Send My Love (To Your New Lover) – 10/10

    3. I Miss You – 9/10

    4. When We Were Young – 9/10 ***

    5. Remedy – 7/10

    6. Water Under The Bridge – 9/10 ***

    7. River Lea – 9/10 ***

    8. Love In The Dark – 8/10 ***

    9. Million Years Ago – 7/10

    10. All I Ask – 8/10

    11. Sweetest Devotion – 8/10 ***

    12. “Can’t Let Go” – 10/10 ***

    13. “Lay Me Down” – 8/10

    14. “Why Do You Love Me.” – 7/10

If I were to recommend the order of singles released (based on the songs i SUSPECT/EXPECT will be chosen as the singles):

    1. Hello (official 1st single)

    2. When We Were Young

    3. Water Under The Bridge

    4. Love in the Dark

    5. Sweetest Devotion (could see this being a 4th or 5th single if they want to up the singles released of the album)

NB: Can’t Let Go is definitely 3rd/4th single material but given it’s a bonus track, then they likely aren’t considering it as a single, but i could so see it being a chart topper. Fingers crossed they will ignore the fact that it’s a bonus track & release it anyway.

MY PERSONAL WISH for the singles would be:
    1. Hello
    2. When We Were Young
    3. Water Under The Bridge
    4. Can’t Let Go
    5. River Lea
    6. Send My Love (To Your New Lover)

  • Brandon Y

I’m 26 years old…My age has nothing to do with anything relevant to this discussion. If you are younger than 15, then “a lot younger” would be an appropriate assumption because a 15 year old child has a completely different concept of what is good compared to an adult. So if you are a kid, then you should really try to do your research before commenting. If you are just being a sore ass because I pointed out your misleadings, then I also understand the feeling of being outsmarted and frustrated.

  • Legendary Trolly

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!! Yo dumbazz aint outsmart anything! I was just done debating! I gave you a way out by agreeing to disagree, but as I said before, these are living legends! Adelle, Taylor, and now Bieber!

  • Brandon Y

You lost me at Taylor. She is not a legend and Bieber? Maybe if your a 12 year old tween.

  • Legendary Trolly

Taylor is first artist in history to consecutively sell a million albums in one week, with three albums in a row! Whether you hate her or not, thats legendary! Bieber recently broke a beatles record, and whether you hate him or not, you cant ignore records like that being broen!
