Why the hell are Gaga, Adam Levine, Nick Jonas, Seth McFarlane (twice) and Juanes performing and actual singers/performers like Johnny Mathis, Liza Minnelli, Robert Davi, Billy Joel, etc are not featured

  • Klaudia Lasic

What about Michael Buble, why isn’t he a part of this?

  • saad rock

    Lady Gaga <3

  • Artie Lee Bray

Because Gaga, Levine etc are actual singer/performers. Duh….

  • Marta Villalobos

In what way do they compare to the ones I listed and to the honoree Frank Sinatra?

  • patriotusa

Adam Levine looked incredibly uncomfortable and unnatural, and lacked presence. John Legend’s voice was weak. Harry Connick and Seth MacFarlane strained for the high notes. Wondered what happened to Celine Dion’s voice (it was really bad). Tony Bennett’s a legend but should really stop singing. It’s embarrassing how bad he is these days. Katharine McPhee and Carrie Underwood can sing, thankfully. Garth Brooks is talented but was similarly out of his element. Alicia Keys milked the song to the point of excess and was annoying. Can’t stand Gaga… Liza is the ONLY person who should’ve ended the show.

  • Matteo

Well obviously not everyone could make it and hey went with whom they had for a line up. A pitty really Levine was horrible, not a jazz singer. However, I do think Gaga was brilliant and her voice suits the jazz genre and it did make sense that she honored him since she is the last person to win grammy for traditional pop (which is jazz), which made Sinatra famous.

What moron didn’t think Eugene Landau Murphy Jr. shouldn’t have opened this show??

  • Anne Kelley

You sound a smidge judgmental……just sayin’.

  • Marta Villalobos

Standards as I recall, have never been auto tuned. Sinatra never had someone vomit on him for “art” either. So my point still stands.

  • Marta Villalobos

Anne you are so right. Eugene will headline a show celebrating Frank on Dec 12th and he sings w lead trumpet for Sinatra himself.

    Here’s where I got info: http://williamsondailynews.com/news/2366/landau-eugene-murphy-jr-local-tour

    Thanks for the recall.

Lady Gaga was phenomenal performing “New York, New York.” I loved Alicia Keys’ cooing version of “Crush”. I agree with some of the comments about Adam Levine’s weak performances. He did seem looser in his second song, but he didn’t belong on this stage. And Harry Connick, Jr. gave a weak performance, compared to his younger days. Usher was right on point: wonderful phrasing and great moves! But the biggest surprise was Zak Brown! He looked and sounded fantastic!

  • Joe Brennan

One of the worst shows I have ever seen. After saying how perfect the song layouts that Sinatra used were, they altered each layout. Anyone who thought that this was a way to introduce younger folks to Sinatra music was seriously mistaken. After listening to the way his songs were sung, if I had never heard them the way he sang them, I would never be interested in his music. Kudos to Lady Gaga, she was true to his form. I never thought that she would have to be the model for his music.

  • Artie Lee Bray

No, it really doesn’t. Gaga sings live without autotune…but whatever you need to tell yourself to get through the day. :-)

  • Marta Villalobos

I wasn’t talking to you Gaga stan, thanks for replying for others.

  • deadprez

    how did Usher do?

Celine got a bit emotional because the one she sang that night is dedicated for Sinatra and for her dying husband, Rene Angelil. At the end you’ll see she can’t hold back her tears. Well, She got a long standing ovation for that. And I think was a great performance… All of them! :)

  • Matteo

Your comments just show how desperately you want your views to be right, but you don’t have to be rude to others if you wanna make a point. She has talent and that is that, can sing live (nowadays very rare unfortunately), we were talking about this performance and not her music and performances she puts on for art (I didn’t get why she had to have someone vomit on her either, but if it makes sense to her and someone else what the hell do I care), moreover this performance wasn’t auto tuned (and fyi neither was her standard’s album with Bennett) and she really stayed true to Sinatra’s song and art more than anyone else that night (besides Bennett obviously since Sinatra was his friend and mentor so he had the best insight on Sinatra’s music, art and life) so no your point really does not stand.
