Lupita Nyong'o Didn't Know She Was Auditioning for 'Star Wars'!
Lupita Nyong’o continues her promo tour for the Star Wars: The Force Awakens with a stop by The Ellen DeGeneres Show, airing Tuesday (December 15).
The 32-year-old Oscar winner chatted about auditioning for the role of Maz Kanata in the movie, even though director J.J. Abrams did not tell her she was actually auditioning for a role in Star Wars!
“But you knew it was for Star Wars?,” Ellen asked, to which she responded, “No I didn’t. I didn’t. I don’t believe I did.”
“And so then what was your audition if you didn’t what did you, did you just talk to him?,” Ellen continued, to which Lupita said, “No there was a script from something else, you know they give you a substitute script… I remember crouching around and I was using my hands as a gun, I remember that.”
“It was two months later and I was in Morocco on holiday and he called me at my hotel and said, I have this motion capture role that I’m considering you for are you interested in doing motion capture and I said, yes, please,” Lupita added.
FYI: Lupita is wearing a David Koma jacket and skirt, Rupert Sanderson shoes, Wolford bodysuit, and Eva Fehren jewelry.
