'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' Box Office to Break Thursday Preview Records
Star Wars: The Force Awakens is officially playing all across the country and tons of showtimes on the East Coast have already finished up.
The movie was released into theaters on Thursday night (December 17) at 7pm and the box office results from the preview showings are expected to break records.
The previous record holder is Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2, which earned $43.5 million from midnight showings back in 2011.
“I can tell you this,” a distribution insider told Deadline. “No one has ever seen anything like this. It’s very possible that it could go over $50M.”
Showtimes are continuously being added at theaters across the country and many movie theaters will be open 24/7 in order to show the film all night long!
